World Invocation Day and the Brotherhood of Nations

These forces of reconstruction are effective mainly in relation to those entities which we call nations. The Hierarchy is at this time attempting to channel them into the Assembly of the United Nations; the use made of these impersonal energies is dependent upon the quality and the nature of the recipient nation, on its measure of true enlightenment and on its point in evolution. Nations are the expression today of the massed self-centredness of a people and of their instinct to self-preservation. These energies can, therefore, increase that aspect of their lives. They can, however, and in spite of this, increase the potency of the objective, which the United Nations (at present) theoretically hold before the eyes of men everywhere. The main object of the Hierarchy is so to distribute these constructive, synthesising energies that the theory of unity may slowly be turned into practice, and the word " United " may come to have a true significance and meaning.1

Having arrived at the dawn of the New Age of Aquarius, it is today an incontrovertible fact that we live in a global age. The recognition of the One Planet and the One Humanity and such concepts as planetary thinking and global consciousness are all commonplace. With that awareness has also come the realization that the problems befalling one segment of our global society quickly reverberate, affecting the rest of society.

Thus, finding solutions to the global problems affecting humanity occupies the thoughts and work of many individuals and organizations—be it in the realm of politics, religion, or science. Due to the work of that most global of institutions—the United Nations—people throughout the world are recognizing their responsibility to each other and attempting to resolve ancient and entrenched global problems.

Increasing numbers throughout the world are also beginning to recognize and observe World Invocation Day or " The Festival of Humanity. " Since 1952, throughout the planet in groups large and small, people have been meeting in meditation, discussion and prayer to focus on and reflect on the spiritual and divine nature of humanity. Aspiring towards God Transcendent while acknowledging and seeking to express God Immanent, the Festival is one of deep invocation, aspiration and appeal. It is a Festival of fellowship based on human and spiritual unity. Recognized is the fact that humanity is One because of its common divine nature—the divine spark within each human being that is connected to and a part of the fullness of the One Divine Universal Source of all. It is this recognition, which eventually will prove much greater and more powerful than the differences which to date have been a source of warring conflict.

As a spiritual center within the planet, humanity needs to fulfill its mission to bridge between the world of spirit and the world of material forms. Humanity, as a unit, needs to heal the breaches, bring an end to the cleavages and break down the barriers that stand in the way of realizing and expressing a more potent spiritual vitality in loving service to the planet, to all living beings and to each other. Thus, it is the loving salvage of the planet and all its inhabitants that unites and occupies the minds and hearts of the many diverse human beings throughout the world who, in their respective ways and in their respective communities, observe this Festival.

The date of this Festival of Humanity is fixed annually in relation to the Gemini Solar Festival also known as the Full Moon of June—the full moon being an easily visible indication that the energies of the sun reaching the planet are at their peak and most readily available. The Festival is actually a five-day event—two days prior to the exact time of the full moon, the day of the full moon and two days after the full moon, which this year falls on June 18th. In observation of this propitious spiritual opportunity, the Aquarian Age Community is organizing a Seminar at the UN: " Harmonizing the Actions of Nations: How Can We Help? Additionally, all are enjoined to invoke and evoke the energies of Light, Love and the Will-to-Good for the planet as a whole by using The Great Invocation (see overleaf), sounding it aloud and in group formation, whenever and wherever possible, knowing that by doing so, one is cooperating with Those Enlightened Beings Who are part of the Planetary Hierarchy of Light, Love and Power, guiding human and planetary evolution.
