I have been avoiding all chances of getting sick for many many " moons "

now, but to no avail. This morning I am sick. Tonight I am sick, but

I am taking robotussin DM and the wheezing is terrible, it keeps me

awake at night. I do have albuterol to use. I opened my new one

tonight. Taking tylenol every 4 hrs. too. Getting lots of rest. It

is 85 deg. here. and a/c on in the house. Have been napping all day on

couch with . My daughter brought me chicken soup, and a dozen

varigated salmon and cream roses and some lilacs from her yard. But I

can't smell them. I want to know with PF what else I should be doing

for this except just as I am, taking good care of ME>

Love, mlp

Hey You!!!! Call the Doc and get some antibiotics....NOW!

I learned this from my past 3 URI's, which started out feeling like

colds. You need to call the Doc or go to the ER for antibiotics.

I know Bruce will back me up on this one.

Your flowers sound lovely, and it was so sweet of your daughter to

bring you something pretty to look at while you're not feeling well.

And of course, good ol' chicken soup! :)

Please post and say you're going to the Doc in the morning (if you

have a Doc who can see you then) or that you promise you'll go first

thing Monday morning. Or that you'll vamoose to the ER....'K????

Hugs!!!

Ok, my opinion. There is no such thing as a normal cold or flu with PF.

You can't treat it like you would have all the rest of your life. I went

to work many times over the years very sick, sometimes sipping codeine

syrup periodically during the day to keep going. I once did an entire

boat show in the throes of pneumonia. I never missed work regardless of

the degree of illness.

Today-sick, wheezing, fever, any of those type words and I'm off to the

doctor. Maybe I overreact, but I'd rather be guilty of that than

ignoring something I shouldn't have. Were you running a fever? I guess

at this point I'd see how you're doing over the weekend, unless you

worsen, but if not well by Monday, I'd be to the doctor. If you're

running a high fever or if you worsen I'd be to someone tomorrow if you

have that option. I do believe in the earlier we hit something hard the

better our chances of minimizing it.

Now, I'm lecturing as one who let my sinuses or allergies or whatever

congestion go too far before going. I thought it was my normal

allergies, until I realized how badly it had hit my ears. Maybe i should

have only gone a couple of days earlier, but still it would have

probably helped. When I realized, I called to make an ENT appointment

but its not until the first so I then made a primary appointment and saw

him today.

It's just in the past if we assumed just a cold that would go away in a

couple of days and it didn't then we could do something and it wasn't so

bad. Today those assumptions are potentially more dangerous and harmful.

What if instead of a cold it's strep throat? It's not worth the gamble

to me.

So, end of lecture. I do hope my concern is all for nothing and tomorrow

morning you're waking up and telling me how wimpy I am to overreact

because you're already much better.

OK now don't laugh. My sister swears that if you rub VicksVaporub on

the bottom where the arch is that it is like a miracle drug.

She says you feel it in your rear end first then in the lungs.

I dunno, sounds goofy to me but she swears by it.

Well that just reads like you put the Vicks on your rear end but it

is supposed to say (and in my mind maybe it did) that you're supposed

to rub the Vicks on the bottom of your FOOT where the foot arches.

The mad cow again.

,

I use the Vicks trick and it works ( on my feet not rear end!). It makes me feel so good. And I can so relate to the memory loss. I keep blaming prednisone but lately it seems like I am getting worse. It use to be only small things I forgot but now it is the big things too. In this past two weeks I missed a play ( I could have sworn the tickets were for Sunday and they were for Saturday) and drove to the wrong airport to pick up my son for a flight. I have been doing one of those brain exercise games to try to improve my memory, but I think I am going to start writing messagses on my hands like the kids do ( or maybe I will start attaching notes to my tubing lol).

I am glad you understood the Vicks thing. Really it works? Once

again, I have discovered I am not along with the goofy things

happening to my body. It is just so frustrating! I swear I used to

be a compentant person. I would never have typed something that so

clearly confused the buttocks area with the bottom of ones feet.

Just goofy!

S. ... I guess I have your same malady! I laughed when I read about the Vapo Rub too....

Skin: I've noticed the same thing but didn't pay it much attention since I'll be 70 (!) this year....just aging. But it did seem sudden! I've always had really nice skin, never had teenage jits and the sort. I'm sure sorry you are having this reaction but thanks for sharing. Another little tid-bit of info. that maybe others don't know either. (Of course for me, it's aging too, I know).

Have a good day........
