I've looked in the manual and although I don't claim to be the brightest bulb in the bunch, I haen't found anything abour this subject. >> OOPS Well as a nurse I can tell you that any hospital I worked at asked you to remove them BEFORE surgery. I know that you can pick up pulse oximetry through them BUT you need them off so you can be assesed for capilary refill and color of nail beds. Also I have seen some take only one finger nail off......and that is fine but what if you need to give that finger a rest. Maybe they use the skin oximetry there....I have found that method to be more troublesome(Ie falls off alot) and the one for the ear lobe is more for comatose patiens(who wants the feeling of a giant earring)Dont even ASK me about how I like them on the toes...........no fun. I for one have mine off and I am keeping them off until I am post op. Then I am going for a " new do " nails and a facial about one month post op. I wanna big birthday present and that is all part of it.
