Dear & Don,

What a hard road you're both travelling right now....you're still adjusting & Don is grieving as well he should! It IS sad & he has to let it all sink in somehow.

It's great that your daughter-in-law has those skills & wants to go with Don to the next appointment. It does sound like you need more counselling help & day to day coping mechanisms to deal with it all. Doctors aren't the best people for that!

Perhaps your daughter-in-law will be able to help YOU out with strategies once she's been to that Doctor's appointment. How wonderful that she feels so involved!

Most of us recognize that the first year after Diagnosis was one odf Terror & confusion as to what exactly to expect both timewise & quality of life issues. Last year I was too scared to do anthing much for the first 6 months. it was Pulmonary Rehab & the support I found there that got me going again. I just sat a lot of the time & let it all drift over me.

Now I can separate out the limitations of my lung incapacity & do so much more because I KNOW what is safe & what isn't. I also know how to READ my body's messages about when to just STOP & rest whether it is for an hour, a day OR a week!

No doctor helped with any of that...it was THIS Forum & my Pulmonary Rehab Nurse & Physio who made the world of difference.

Now I'm LIVING until I DIE not DYING while I LIVE!

HUGE difference!

lots of love to you both,

in Oz
