Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to our world. I hope you like low carbing. It can be a little hard to get on this way of eating as you go through carb withdrawal for a few days. Everyone is different. But after the first few days you will get a surge of energy like you won't believe and will feel great and you won't be hungry. I find it a very easy way to eat......I have been doing this for two years this month and have lost 30 lbs.. It has come off slow for me but at least it has stayed off. And this list? Well it's the best. Very chatty group we are and we don't worry about off topic or most other things either. I hope you like us, jump right in and ask as many questions or just tell us more about yourself. OH and maybe you can give a gardening lesson or two? a aka corky New Member > Hi: > > Tonight at a church concert I learned that the president of > our local Christian college has lost 33 pounds since March > due to Atkins diet. Guest guest
Hi Diane~I used to be a plantaholic, too. My main interests are perennials & herbs. I haven't added anything new lately, just trying to maintain what I do have, since real life keeps trying to intrude. You'll love Atkins-I've gone from 222 to 188 since January, and thats with a whole lotta cheatin' since April. . . I feel a lot better, too. Good luck, Amy

Guest guest
Hi, Good! You're getting books and doing research. If your symptoms aren't really bothering you, I wouldn't do a hyst.. There just seems to be more and more info about problems after hyst.. A myo takes out the fibroids leaving your uterus intact. A UAE shrinks the fibriods by cutting off their blood supply. You can't use it on all fibroids. You may be near enough to menopause to wait it out if your symptoms don't bother you. A hyst should be your LAST choice but that's my opinion. Your Doc is WRONG about activity not effecting fibroids. I couldn't mow the lawn without being covered in blood, I gave it up. Riding in the car has always made me bleed and hurt more too. I can't ride for long distances even on lupron without bleeding. You Doc needs to read some of your books when you get them. A SIS is a saline sono. Take 3 advil or motrem 1/2 hour before. First they do a regular vaginal ultrasond. Then they open your cervix (this can really hurt), put in a tube and put saline inside your uterus and do another vaginal ultrasound. Once they remove the metal instument they use opening your cervix, the pain and cramps stop. This shows them the inside of your uterus. If it's distorted, it's size, if a fibroid is inside or in the wall sticking out into your uterus and if your fallopian tubes are blocked. I found out my fibroid was inside, in the center and on a tiny stalk. This gives me the possibility of a resection. A simplier 1 day surgical procedure. Without the SIS, I wouldn't know this. Don't let friends, family, anyone tell you what to do. You have plenty of time to research and decide for yourself. You may only have 1 or 2 fibroids causing your symptoms that could be removed. My guess would be the fibroid in the uterine wall and the poylp are the trouble makers with the bleeding. UAE wouldn't work on my fibroid, I chose Myo. Again, if they aren't bothering YOU, you may want to wait till menopause. Ku wrote: The test showed a small 1.5 CM fibroid, a 4.5 CM pendunculated fibroid, another fibroid in the uterine wall and an endometrial polyp in the uterus lining off the wall of the fibroid. Now my doctor wants a saline infused sonohysterogram. Is that the SIS the is discussed on the list? What is a UAE and a MYO? The test is scheduled for Sept. 4. I have my yearly appointment Aug. 7. What is typical procedure? A hysterectomy as all my friends say? If so, why do the SIS? My problems seem minor compared to what many of you are suffering. Guest guest
Check out this website for information on why fibroids can cause bleeding problems http://manhattanfibroidassociates.com/fibroids.html If you have friends who have had hysterectomies you can expect them to tell you that it was the " best thing they ever did " , etc., which I am sure is true for many women, BUT, many women have serious side effects following hysterectomy - it is not a simple case of taking out an " unnecessary organ " and you have options other than hysterectomy, one of which is to do nothing. At age 47 if your symptoms are not bothering you that much you may be able to wait it out until menopause, when fibroids ususally begin to shrink because of the reduced estrogen in the body. However some women in perimenopause experience a growth surge in their fibroids because of wildly fluctuating hormone levels. A doctor skilled in hysteroscopic procedures can remove fibroids inside the uterine cavity (submucosal) in an outpatient procedure called hysteroscopic resection. This often cures bleeding problems. There is no incision and recovery time is almost non- existent. Continue to read the posts on here and search the groups archives for additional information. Remember, if your doctor does not offer options it doesn't mean that you don't have any, it probably means that your doctor lacks the skill to do them. > I am new here and have much to learn. I've already reserved some of the books that were mentioned in earlier posts. > > A little background: I am 47 and for at least five years or more I have had a normal 4-5 day period followed by a day or two off and then a trickle of blood a day later. It never bothered me and because it was so regular I figured it was just how my body is. Last summer my gyn said she wanted a transvaginal ultrasound as that wasn't normal. To me it was normal so I put it off. Then last month my period came, turned to spotting, started up again for 21 days. I decided to have the test. > > The test showed a small 1.5 CM fibroid, a 4.5 CM pendunculated fibroid, another fibroid in the uterine wall and an endometrial polyp in the uterus lining off the wall of the fibroid. > > Now my doctor wants a saline infused sonohysterogram.
