It was a late night flight, and while I had planned that everyone would fall asleep to the soothing hum of the engines, that never happened. At least not for me. It worked great for DH and my older two... but wanted to stay attached for most of the flight! I used a rear facing car seat for the flight, that way I could lean in and nurse him, or be able to see his face much easier. I was comforted that by being able to see him, I might pick up on when his ears bothered him and he needed help popping them -- by nursing or chewing on something. I was able to comfort him by being visible on such an unusual mode of travel, for him at least. As for his diaper, I made sure that he had a fresh diaper on before we boarded, and I didn't offer him any fluids from a cup, just breast milk, in hopes that he wouldn't overload his diaper. Fortunately, he didn't have any poopy diapers, but if he had, I would have been able to use the diaper changing table in the bathroom... most planes have them. Be sure to get both of you in, diaper bag and all, before lowering that tray, because you won't have any room to breathe once it's down! If your plane doesn't have one, let the attendants know that you may need to use a flat surface somewhere else for changing him. They have to accomodate you. Think of it as a $500 changing table in the sky!! lol
