Hi, Mike! I think if the zinco cream looks unnatural, you are better off

using your facial bronzer for color and using regular (untinted) sunscreen

for SPF protection.

Just my opinion,

:)

I agree with majita , I use emu as a base for the zinco and before applying

the zinco I wet my face just a little to make it spred easier and it really

seeems to blend well that way. By the way im really happy with the zinco

cream and am using it in place of the clinique city block i was using

previous to zinco. It feels good and conceals.

Mike,

I hope you'll take the following principles for rosacea skin to heart:

1. Allow time for your skin to heal.

2. Do no harm to it.

3. Less is better.

4. Embellishment is good but keep it simple.

5. The goal is a comfortable, healthy looking skin.

Due to hard work and resilience, you have come a long way with your skin -

don't undo what you have achieved thus far!

Take care.

Yeah Mike, I've been reading your posts as of late, and I think you may be

overcomplicating it. I don't think we need every single oil Dr. Nase

suggested. In fact if your regime is extremely complicated it'll be that

much harder on your skin when you go off it because it'll be used to so many

products. Plus I think the idea is to be comfortable and keep it simple, so

it's not to the point where you're stressing over it every part of the day.

Just take it easy and give it some time to heal up, more is not necessarily

better. All the best!

Mike -

I just got the ZincO and love it. It just happens to blend nicely with my skin

tone, I guess. That doesn't mean I don't look like I'm wearing makeup sometimes,

but it's the lesser of two evils in my opinion (red vs. makeup).

By the way, this is the tanning product I'm using and it does work well. As

you'll see, it contains GPE, Vits. A,C, and E:

http://www.sephora.com/wellness/product.jhtml?brandId=4164 & productId=P4046

You're probably set with the Au Courant, but you may want to try it anyway.

Thanks,

Don

Mike,

Could you be putting on a lot of layers of the ZincO? When I put on

one light layer, it looks like I have no makeup on my skin at all. As

a suggestion you might try mixing the a small amount of the ZincO with

the AuCourant bronzer to get a more natural color. You must have a

dark complexion to begin with because I have a light to medium olive

toned complexion. The ZincO Cream is just a bit light on me. It seems

to adjust to my own skin tone after a few hours on. Also, when I lived

with my parents they seemed to be more vigilant about my skin problems

than I did. I think my parents wanted to solve the skin problems and

became frustrated when they couldn't.

Anyway, glad to hear that your skin is much better.

Take care!

hi Matija,

I just noticed that you described the Zinc-O as being a bit light when

you first put it on your face--me too! but it does tend to " adjust " when

worn for a while. Someone here described it as being " dark " --you and I

have the medium tone skin, I guess. I made my husband try it and

couldn't detect a make-up look at all, so I think the " light layer " is a

good idea.

Looks great with a bit of translucent powder and then bronzer fluffed

over it--this routine has become my " new make-up " --I use the bronzer as

a " blusher "

Everyone seems to be okay with the new Zinc-O; however, I tried it the other

night before actually putting it on during the day, and I woke up with bright

red cheeks. Is this possible? I feel like it might be just a coincidence,

since everyone else seems to be so fine with it.

Like Jim said, some of us have had similar reactions to the

ZincO cream. For some the cream has helped them. Thats great. Zinc oxide in

any form is one of the best ingredients that can be used for controlling

rosacea. There are other zinc oxide options out there to try. Dont feel like

this product should work for you since others use it with no reactions. We

all react differently. When you hang in these groups long enough you read

alot of posts where people just LOVE a new product and then a few weeks later

you dont hear too much more about it. Trust your own judgement when it comes

to what products seem to work for your skin. This group is great when it

comes to learning about all of these different treatments, but only a few

will work for each of us. But they will work and help you control this.

From what I am reading there is no such consensus regarding this product.

Several users on this ML have reported problems similar to yours.

Since we all seem to react differently to different ingredients in

products, maybe the Zinc-O cream is not quite " agreeable " to your type

skin--I have medium tone skin, in my 50's and am still somewhat oily

(yes, it's a long difficult adolescence for me!) tend to break out

(papules), and have certain chemical sensitivities....if you're not

breaking out from it and are seeing a gradual clearing/healing, you

might want to continue using it (I use the vita-oil on a wet face, after

washing, and use the zinc-o later and my skin seems to like the zinc-0

very much)

Good luck to you,

I was hoping that the ZincO Cream could help you enjoy your trip to Tahiti

more and it is a let down to read your message!

May I suggest you do the following: Don't use ZincO on your entire face and

certainly not at night when you cannot observe the response. Apply ZincO

Cream on one area of your face; say, your forehead, during the day. Observe

this area for persistent itching, stinging, burning sensation, red rash. If

you do develop any of the above mentioned signs and symptoms on the areas

you applied the ZincO (and none on the unapplied areas), then you do have a

reaction. If none, then move on to other areas etc.

The most common rosacean reactions to a product are:

1) Contact dermatitis - allergy to the product. There will be itching or a

sensation of something crawling. This is what happened to Bill, I believe.

If such is the case, then you should return the product. 2) Irritant

dermatitis - quite common in rosaceans when there is a flare or skin

inflammation. There will be burning or stingling sensation. In such a case,

using an oil (jojoba, hemp, chamomille, emu - whatever that works for you)

for a few days to create a soothing barrier. Then you can try again.

The way that you used it, you really can't tell what caused your red cheeks

as this is a common occurrence in rosaceans.

Please let me know how these suggestions work for you.
