Jim, from the time we got married has said "When I get old I want to sit on a porch with old men and tell lies."I used to laugh. I think that is speaking it into reality. Maybe I shouldn't have laughed at him. I ask him the other day if he misses working and I got a real quick NO. He is working harder than ever as a house husband, caretaker, dog setter and anything else I come up with. lol  Poor Baby.Enjoy your nose pickin all you want.  Love and Prayers, PeggyIPF  2004,  Florida"Worry looks around, Sorry looks back,  Faith looks up." Hey Sher.........yes, we spent a week in Seaside. First 40 years of my life I lived just outside Vancouver. Went to boarding school in Roseburg, lived in Portland. I know the area well. RE: retirement. I think it is that whatever I do I just do it a lot slower......no pressure to get to work. I even drive slower. Getting up, showering, and getting ready to go can take 2 hours. I can stand in the living room and look at the melting snow and pick my nose .......as long as I want. You know, ever since I've had this freaking disease I've been told to slow down. And, of course, I should have.....and I did....when my sats dropped to 75 and I'm doubled over gasping. I worried that I was doomed to keep "trying to slow down".....not even. Remove a 8-10 hour workday and voila' .........I beez slow!!! The transition was so quick and easy that I'm still amazed. Like you and your husband.......I can't imagine going to work every day. So.....I don't do much, but I do it so slow that it takes me all day. Ain't it cool ??? Plus......my life long ambition has been to be like the elder men that I grew up around and be a "duffer".....I'm gettin' there. When I see folks in town and they ask "what you doin' now" ? I tell them "duffin'". jimSher Bauman <bofuswbcable (DOT) net> wrote:Jim.... thanks for your reply! I love hearing from you and yes oh yes the strawberries are soon to be here. I used to make wonderful strawberry freezer jam...maybe I will again.........the taste is incredible.So. What are you doing since now retired? My husband and I often comment we can't imagine having a job now.Did you get into Oregon from Vancouver? Now you have piqued my curiosity about sats during sleep........why in heck didn't you go ahead and comment while you had my attention? I have recently been scripted for O2 at night into my cpap. I think I'm feeling better during the day and my sats seldom drop below low 90s daytime unless I'm exerting myself someway.BTW.....purse your little lips, purse your little lips, purse your little lips and blow........We get really desperate don't we? lol.  Mama-Sher, age 69.IPF 3/06, NSIP 4/08 OR. Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there!  $.02 worthOnce again I've been reading about dead beat doctors who, for whatever reasons, aren't meeting the needs of folks on the Board here. First, I have to say that there are genuine healers out there that are, unfortunately in my opinion, in the minority. In my case, in my pre- IPF days I had 2 oncologists. One of them I still see every 3-6 months. First he wants a CT scan to check that the cancer has not returned. After that the time is mine and much of it is spent discussing my lungs. He is damn busy, but he makes time to "treat" me. He has even researched pulmo questions to help me find answers. Anyway, that's not why I'm writing........I'm writing about Respiratory Therapists. I've only had contact with 2 so my experience is limited, but both are EXCELLENT sources of information, One does my periodic PFT, and the other runs the small company that rents me all my O2 equipment. This guy is available 24/7. I'm not able to do pulmo rehab because I choose to live 350 miles from Anchorage so this guy makes himself available by phone.  I'm making this way too long and drawn out. In my experience, both of these RTs provide me with as much or more info than any MD. Like anything else, there are bound to be duds, but I've had great experience with them. jim IPF 05alaskaBe a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
