Yes hopefully it will at least be stable. I think they have just

gotten too far away from the NT core with too many hands stirring the

pot that are gamers at heart, not operating system programmers. Cool

is good but stable is better. They forgot that along the way.

I tend to think #3 is the more likely candidate for their thinking.

I don't think they had any intention of releasing Longhorn like it

became Vista but they put off release so long I think they were just

embarrassed not to put something new on the shelf. Now they are

really embarrassed.

BY the way, my last encounter with my Microsoft person was on April

15. I asked her if she was insane to call an accounting office on

April 15 and pretty much hung up on her. They have not called me

back.
