Guest guest
I just wanted to say that meeting Wally and his family in his small wonderful town of Snyder Texas was AWESOME! I was treated like royalty from the moment I arrived in Snyder. Wally wasn't kidding that he had to wait 18.5 hours for me to arrive from Chicago. Hopefully, it was worth the wait!! It was so wonderful to meet him and his son Corbin and his niece . We drove across the flat plains of Texas to Snyder all the while I was getting a history lesson from Wally. I could smell the oil from time to time.... It was way cool. Then, we headed off to the Ranch to meet up with Bill and nne who helped organize the event. It was a quick meeting because Wally's sister Shana had been waiting dinner for 18.5 hours..... Talk about good food and good company. Roast beef and mashed potatoes and rolls and a salad. And peach cobbler. Yum!! Got to meet both Shana and her husband . Then Shana and I stayed up in our jammies just talking about " stuff " . Saturday I got the grand tour of Snyder - meeting up with Wally's mom and then going out to a tex-mex place for lunch where everybody knows everybody else!! People were buzzing about the Cajun Cowboy Festival. Time for the party. There was some concern about the weather. But as you saw in the pictures, we had a rainbow, so that was a good sign. The ranch was all decorated and the people just kept on coming. Good food (again!) good music and really good peeps. It was wondeful to see Bruce again and to meet and her friends. Snyder Texas is probably one of the most informed towns about Pulmonary Fibrosis thanks to Wally and co. Several people have died from the disease there. And there is another lady that has been diagnosed with it. So a lot of awareness was raised and a lot of money was raised to help fund research that will one day find a cure for this miserable disease. Wally and Shana, I tip my hat to you.
