Guest guest
My derm wants me to use it too (as tretinoin/Avita cream). I am equally apprehensive. He aknowledged the debate over risks vs benefits. It theoretically promotes new capillary development. But he felt the improvement in papules and pustules outweighed what he considered to be a long term, theoretical and yet undocumented risk for increased vascularization. Until the double blinded studies with 1000 patients come in for a treatment, we won't really know for sure. When we try really new therapies for any disease we can't expect to get assurances. We are to some extent the experimental group and have to weigh the risks ourselves. As a biologist,I have a tendancy to weigh in on the side of a scientist specializing in microvascular physiology, like Dr. Nase. I feel he has a perspective and depth of knowledge that would be unfair to expect from a general dermatologist. However, I would like to hear what the leading MD/rosacea specialists say about this therapy. There must be some literature out there if dermatologists are beginning to recommend it. Would have to read it all and feel better about it to risk it right now.
