Guest guest
Angie, I use Zomig when I get A migraine. I find it works well. I even used it at work and was able to semi function.(I was teaching preschool). I find now if I sleep when it starts that I usually don't need to take the zomig. There are some blessings for not working and needing to have a total hysterectomy because of uterine cancer. JudyMer ---- Angie wrote: > OK that was my attempt at humor. It's a term my family always used as I was growing up so its a habit for me. The way I see it the counselor is going to help me shrink some of my issues to a manageable size. Well I can hope at least. > > My head is killing me tonight and I should probably take an Imitrex but I'm hesitating. I really don't like the way it makes me feel. Guest guest
Thanks Judy. I think its time I ask my doc for something different. That weird feeling I get from the Imitrex sort of scares me; plus its very unpleasant until it passes. I know there are a lot of newer meds out there for Migraines. Guest guest
I may have said this before but I really don't trush Imitrex! I remember the first time I saw a brochure for it in a doctor's office and it made me so mad, my blood pressure was literally off the charts for me!!! I used to believe that a CERTAIN DOCTOR who is the self- proclaimed migraine expert had a serious adverse reaction ocurr in his office while that drug was still in the testing phase or had just been approved. Seems that his " BIG " clinic really didn't have all of the equipment to use in case a patient had a SERIOUS adverse reaction. The patient died from the Imitrex in the doctor's office -- apparently the call for an ambulance was not fast enough or someone did not believe the level of the danger. While I don't know the individual's case history, I still think that WORLD RENOWNED doctor, with the amount of $$$ he gets from the drug companies to do studies, that he could have a better set-up in his facility than he did when the drug was either first released or still in the study phase. All I can say, is that I am very glad I never decided to see if I could become a patient back in the days when I rode the bus past the facility everyday on my way to work. It was actually in walking distance of where I lived at the time. I know I am prejudiced but the information I have is from a person who worked in the office at the time of that adverse reaction and who has very severe migraines that are a signal of the onset of a rare disease, so if she would never take it, I know I wouldn't. But unless you have contacts at the clinics that do the studies, work in the pharma field, etc., you may never hear of the dangers. Which is another reason, to if you can, read all of the literature that comes with the medicine --- your doctor sees so many reps a month and I doubt there is anyway for them to really read all of the literature! And believe me, I have spent hours sorting inserts so that the companies know which contains the latest info!! Which is another thing to look for!!! And pay attention to the percentage of adverse reactions!! Talk to your pharmacist, they often know more than the docs about the drug reactions, interactions and if you use the same pharmacy, they have all of your records to compare them to!!! I do get more outspoken the older I get!!! But I also know of doctors such as one in my hometown, who got so lazy or tired, that if you walked into his office and said, " I think I have XYZ " , that's what he treated you for!!! You can also check to see how many complaints the state board has had against a doctor! -- In Fibromyalgia_Support_Group , Angie wrote: > > Thanks Judy.
