Guest guest
Jack, Below is the pursed lip method that most doctors reccomend. Pursed lip breathing works when you find it had to breathe. Learn this now so you won't panic when you feel short of breath. Step 1 Breathe in slowly through your nose for 1 count. Step 2 Purse your lips as if you were going to whistle. Step 3 Breathe out gently through pursed lips for 2 slow counts. (exhale twice as slowly as you inhale.) Let the air escape naturally. Do not force the air out of your lungs. Keep doing pursed lip breathing until you are not short of breath. For me, it is about relaxation. If I just let go of the panic and concentrate on relaxing, I breathe better. Not easy when short of breath. Most of us have been through pulmonary rehab programs. These are usually great in teaching breathing excersises and techniques. Good to have you here.
