Hi Jackie,

I had several symptoms prior to surgery. The

worst was the extreme headaches that were made worse

by coughing, sneezing or straining. Near the time of

my surgery any of those three would almost cause me to

black out. I also suffered from virtigue and an

unsteady gait. The two weeks before my surgery I

couldn't wear my glasses or ride in vehicles without

vomitting. The doctors laid this to the increased

pressure. I also had left sided weakness and numdness.

They also told me that my right eye twitched severly.I

could feel twitching in my eyelid but didn't realize

my eye was also. At night I would have trouble with

choking and apnea. I would wake up to my pillow being

soaked because I wasn't swallowing. Most of these have

disappeared with the surgery. My nsg thinks my

weakness and pain in my left side now is being caused

by muscles spasms. If anyone were to ask is it worth

it...YES! The gains have certainly outwayed the

losses. You need to make the decision that is right

for you. I have been blessed by only having to have

the decompression surgery so far. There is a

possiblity that I may need disc surgery at some point

but I'm not going to worry about that right now. I
