Guest guest
Hi hank, Rashes do happen. Several things you can do. There are topicals to use, Aloe creams, as well an antihistimine. That works too. The otherthing is adding more Minocin( brand) as perhaps you need to adjust the dose. I know for me I did trial and error. We are all different and thats the only way you do find your dose! Several do M-F dosing..some 6 days. or on 3 days add another 50 to 100 and see if that works.I just would not do it all of the days. Just my opinion! Marge > I have developed a rash on my face around my nose. On both sides > and across the top bridge of my nose. Has anyone seen this? > > I have Psoriatic Arthritis. Guest guest
Before I went into remission , I frequently had a light red rash across the bridge of my nose and on my cheeks. I always worried about lupus but it was just part of the RA. Once I went into remission, it has never returned. I think people with arthritis are often more subject to rashes and such......hang in there, It will get better. Martha
Guest guest
Hi Hank, It took years back 15 yrs ago for the drs. to find a diagnoises for me and I had test after test and just went Everywhere even the Cleveland Clinid missed it, and I had to work in a car plant and was very sick most of my life with RA. Then it was Lupus also with Fibromalgia, Well I know this debait goes on and on but to me to this day it is all the same and they treat it all basicaly the same way it is just the degree and how you are affected. I have been on AP for 15 yrs now all tests are normal and I have never been better but it has been a big battle .My Lupus is Discoid Lupus of the skin only so they say, but I just take the doxy MWF and am finally doing fine NO thanks to most drs. but the AP saved my life. It takes some time and adjustments but as far as I know the safest and most complete. Just My View from Ohio
Guest guest
Hi Hank, I don't want to concern you, but you should go see a doctor about the rash. It could be harmless, but a butterfly rash is the signature sign of lupus, a very similar disease to PA in that it attacks the joints and organs of the body in similar fashion. One good thing is that there is a blood test for lupus, so you can find out if you have it or not (not that it's always accurate, mind you). I believe we do have people with lupus in this group who are on the antibiotic protocol and who have gained relief. So, it's possible you are doing the right thing, but have been diagnosed improperly (or have a dual diagnosis). Maybe some our lupus friends can speak up and give Hank some more advice? Take good care and make that doctor's appointment! deano On Thursday, December 12, 2002, at 07:45 PM, hwpiatek <hank@...> wrote: > I have developed a rash on my face around my nose. Guest guest
A butterfly rash can also signify dermatomyositis (DM), which I have. It is an autoimmunine disease that affects your skin and/or your muscles. Do not panic. I have such a mild case of it you wouldn't know anything is wrong. Once we got it under control, I only have to take a mild drug to maintain it. The rash may or may not signify anything, but bring it to your primary's attention. I had to go to a dermatologist before it was recognized as a possible symptom. The good news is that if it is something, perhaps you have recognized this sign early enough to treat it before it gets too far along. Has anyone seen this<<<<<<<< Hank, I had the " butterfly rash " before my official diagnosis of Lupus. My rheumy at the time (before diagnosis) told me it wasn't a butterfly rash, because the rash extended a wee bit down past my mouth...LOL..I then went to the dermatologist who thought perhaps it might be cea...gave me some salve, which did absolutely nothing...PS, my diagnosis came up Lupus. Have been on Minocin 3 years doing very well...Not in remission, but can't believe how far I have come from the original diagnosis and the severe pain. Rash has disappeared...The rash did show itself about a year ago, when I was overdoing...I could actually feel the heat rising and then bingo...rash appeared...That was very short lived. Best bet is always to check in with your doctor. Barb
