Guest guest
My dad got a IPF diagnosis about three weeks ago. A bad rash broke out on his body twice in three weeks--about one week apart. Today, the rash was bad. Blisters, red patches all over his body, itching; all lasted through-out the day. I'm wondering if anyone has suffered any rash incedents with IPF. thanks for your help, 's son,
Guest guest
Notejohn Well, skin rashes aren't unheard of by any means. However, they often indicate the potential of an autoimmune disease as well, which can be the cause of the PF. > > My dad got a IPF diagnosis about three weeks ago. Guest guest
, I would get this information to your Dad's doctor. It is possible that this rash is an indication of some other disease process that could be treated. Or he could be allergic to a medication he's on or something else he's in contact with. I have an intermittent, dry, itchy, peeling, callousing rash on my hands called "mechanics hand rash" that the doctors feel in indicative of some type of connective tissue disease that probably caused my pulmonary fibrosis. It would be best to let his doctor recommend a specialist who can run the necessary tests to figure out what's going on. Good luck! Beth Age 48 Fibrotic NSIP 06/06 Change everything. Guest guest
('s son), No, no rash for me. I do have a rash right now, but is related to another illness and meds. Go through his medicines and check the side effects of each. So many will say that skin rash is one of them. Welcome to our group. And, thank you for being a good son and looking after your dad. Guest guest
....you might consider an allergic reaction to a medication. I get side effects easily and they are identical to what you describe about your dad. Hope it clears soon...that itching is miserable! Mama-Sher, age 69.IPF 3/06, NSIP 4/08 OR. Guest guest
Hi , I'm fairly new to this IPF stuff too and just last week got a dx of sarcoidosis.. Most research I've done indicates that sarcoid can suddenly occur as a rash with bumps on the skin....Food for thought. If your father is just starting testing, you might want to suggest that he ask his dr about sarcoid. It could be a possibility. Good luck!
