Oh Alana....Where do I begin?? I was suffering from low oxygen saturations for long before I was ever diagnosed with fibrosis. It is my belief that in my case that oxygen deprivation has caused some short term memory loss for me. It's pretty mild but it's there. I have what my Dad calls CRS (which stands for "can't remember sh#!)

It was worse the last 6 months I worked. I know for a fact my job performance suffered terribly. I was sleepy, forgetful and could not focus to save my life. Since I've been on the oxygen my memory is definitely better but it will never be what it was before.

It's frustrating but I manage just fine!

I was talking to a friend today and telling her that my previous

employer had given me a great reference for a job I applied for. For

the life of me, I could not even think of the word " reference. "

Having trouble focusing, too. I'll walk into a room and for the life

of me, can't remember why I went in there.

Oh Alana...my memory is really slipping! I think it's my age... 70 this year... and it may be. Something is very different recently...the last 6 months or so. Spelling is harder for me and I notice I don't retain info like I used to.

It's worse than what I say here but just loss of memory at all is unpleasant. Could be meds.

Hi everyone, Don is having a terrible time with his memory also. But then so am I and I've placed the blame on the stress we have been under. Alana: It's nice to meet you and welcome to the group. I am 41 years

old and I can attest 100% to the memory difficulties! I have always

been quite well known for my superb ability to remember things.

Anything from phone numbers to names, and many other things in

between. My professional career as a paralegal was an area that I

really used that ability to impress former employers. And, which made

my job performance sore to the top of my field. However, lately,

within the last year or so, I have truly had a terrible time with

recalling words familiar to me, and many other things. But I have to

say, it is mostly vocabulary related. I can no longer keep my schedule

in my head. I have to keep an appointment reminder book with me at all

times. The first thing I do every morning when I wake is look at my

calendar. I first noticed it when I missed a couple of appointments

due to my memory loss! I don't know what to blame it on or why it came

about so suddenly. I blame some of it on age, but really is that it?

I don't know. But I do empathize and relate to you on this one.

God Bless,

Tina

Alana,

I must say i have lapses in memory, it can be embarassing at

times , i forget names , i cant remember the name of actors in films

and serials ,very familiar ones , i cant recall names of friends

relatives and even students. It wasnt like that before i dont know

whether it is due to Prednisoe or the IPF. the words will be at the

tip of my tongue but icant recall them, iagonise for a long time

till i remember again ,my son playfully keeps me in the dark and

gives me the word i want after tesing me a lot with it.

..I am also confused and have trouble in concentrating

while reading a book have to read some portions again and again.I

misspell a lot too!!

OMG! I was just sitting here thinking about all the changes i

have gone thru in the last 4 years, and memory is one of the

changes that bothers me just as much as physical movement. I

was just going to post the question! They say use it or lose it!

I believe I have used it! I used to pride myself with remembering

numbers when ordering stock and my knowledge of latin terms

for medical terminology, now I know Ive seen a movie, but couldnt

tell you about a scene, I have to read things a few times to

remember what Ive read. on my therapists request I am reading

" how to heal your life " by louise hay " Easy stuff, but?

For me, I know its not meds, for I take none, but,I THINK that

I may be thinking of how my body and breathing is -short of breath-

tired or aching, hell dying, that I dont give my full attention else

where.LOL gosh I think I just answered my question! lol

Thanks for being here!

Always, I'm dreadful! I'm learning a few tricks. Apart from writing things down, if you want to remember something small, like where you've left your keys or bringing something downstairs next time, say it out loud. Apparently your brain then has the double memory of what you thought along with hearing you say it. It is easier for your brain to recall the information. Although you do look odd talking to yourself!

Names, unfortunately I don't have any trick for this apart from to ramble on to them and hope it's mentioned in passing. If it's really bad I just blame OD, say that I'm sorry, it's the lack of oxygen you know, then I usually find that whoever I'm talking to doesn't know if I'm serious or not and let it pass But as a woman I can get away with calling pretty much anyone love!

Lists. I write endless lists especially if there is something that I have to get done that day.

But I still manage to forget things

Beth, Oh that's brilliant, I'm going to steal that. Next time I forget something I'm going to appologise and say with a straight face that I suffer from CRS. I'll get a kick out of how many people nod sagely and say that they understand. We're English you know, it's not done to ask too many questions!
