My Family Grain Mill has given me no problems. It

costs a little over $200 for motor and mill, and I

think it's a very high quality tool. I'd find it

aggravating to have to babysit it like you're

describing. I just check the grain for foreign

objects and unhulled kernels, fill the hopper and turn

it on, then do other things until it's done grinding

(you need to be in the same room so it doesn't run

empty). The only time I've had to give it any help

was when I was flaking some oat groats that I had

soaked and dried, something about the process made

them want to clump together instead of flow down the

chute so I had to poke at them and tap the hopper a

few times. (That doesn't happen with sprouted wheat,

it flows through fine.)
