I have a stent below my vocal cords, in that area and i have a trach, but my doctors said the trach is not permanent because the RP did not effect my upper airway. And i also have a left bronchial stem. Anyway my doctors at Zale Lipshy in Dallas, Tx told me that I could live with this stent, and that the only problem i would be facing is getting sick. Like catching pnuemonia or some type of infection, if i didn't keep the muscus out of my lungs. But i am going to the doctor at UTSouthwestern in Dallas next week and i will sure ask my doctors again. But as for me I dont want to jenks myself, i am doing just fine, if anything my breathing is a lot better and stronger. It's not like it was before i got sick. But it is better than it was last year before i went into the hospital in Jan. and had surgery. And If it wasn't for the stent, I would be dead right now. But i will make sure i ask my doctor again what else am i facing with having a stent. With this disease all i can do is pray and ask God to be with me at this time in my life and watch over me, and he has. Righ now the stent is helping me. And all i can do is educate myself more with this disease and not worry my self to death. No one is promised tomorrow. I just take one day at a time with this disease and make sure i'm on top of everything, and making sure the meds are doing what their susposed to do. Yes, i do think about what God has planned ahead for me in the future. But for now i just leave the rest to God and my doctors. This is just how i feel, I am not trying to offend anyone, you no this is just my personal thought. Sincerely, Re: Bronco-scope. I did otknow that a trachea wall stent only lastd for six months!!!!!!what happens after that? I have learned to " do te nextthing " thati have to. to stay alive. i do remembr the rheumy teling me oftall therisks involved wth the chemo agents and the cyclosporins etc. butlike i told him. that might happen in a few years--it won't matter if i am not alive. I do try to stay as informed as I cn with myown research. when i was in the eginning thores of this disease ther was not the benefit of an r group and i spent hours at the medical libraries i town. to learn . andi would bring this info to my doctors.
