However, the the example you gave for your daily diet seemed to consist of very few carbohydrate food. Even with some high glycemic carbos or even low glycemic carbos, if your overall carb count for the day is low --60 grams or fewer, you might effectively be on a low carb diet which might be the reason you're losing weight. Low carb diets generally don't permit starchy food, or too many of them, because the aim is keep carbos as a percentage of the daily calories low. That means if the diet is aiming to keep carbo levels below 75 grams, one could indeed have some bread or potatoes, just not very much of them. Calculate the amount of carbos in grams that you've been taking in -- some authors say that as much as 75 grams a day or less can lead to weight loss -- depends on exercise and other factors. On the other hand, the pyramid suggests about 400 rams of carbos based on a 2000 calories a day diet. So what is considered low carbs is somewhat relative.
