Nancie, I know what you mean. I was never over 100 pounds even after my

children were born. Every one thought I was dying. They never held back with

their comments, even strangers. " Gee, you must be really sick, you're so

skinny, " " Whats wrong with you? You're so skinny " I even had medical

professionals make out of line comments. Wellll, not he shoe is on the

other foot. Let's just say no one makes comments anymore. Guess, I'm not

SKINNY. No, I haven't lost weight with this disease, I've gained , and

gained, and gained. We're all different. We should just learn to be happy

within ourselves, and thankful for everyday, fat or skinny.

I haven't lost any weight with RP. I do have the

chipmunk face with the as I tell everyone " my high pro

glo " in the face. I have tried for years to GAIN

weight (yeah I know oh poor me, I hear that all the

time. But put the shoe on the other foot I used ( I've

lost 2 inches in the past 6 months) to be 5 foot 8

inches and have never weighed more than 110 - 120.

that is just as bad as being overweight.

sorry guys and gals.....I should have said that the weight loss occurs in

the months (or years) before the diagnosis. Once prednisone is added to the

equation, most people gain.

Nancie, I also have v. veins now. In fact all of my veins are visable. Must

be the pred. I read on the post the other day, that our skin thins and

that's why. Might have been you that sent it, my memory is gone too! lol

Maybe we'll just turn all purple instead of red.

I was just the opposite when I was pregnant. With both

of my kids I went from a size 3 to size 18! I gained

over 80 pounds with each of them! Like I've said

before I'm a vegetarian but both times I was pregnant

I craved meat so I ate it, it grossed me out but I

figured if I was craving it I needed it. I ate

anything and everything, if it couldn't run away from

me I ate it! You know I never got any stretch marks

either. I just noticed the other day too that I now

have varicous veins in my legs. I was a waitress for

over twenty years NEVER got varicous veins during that

time NOW I get them? Is this part of RP? Maybe the

pred?

I ws about 155 when i was diagnosed, after a yer and half of pred and

coinciding chemo i went to 220. then off pred and chemo went to 109--at

which the docs got mad. so i gained to about 150 now i am eating

healthier and my weight isis slowlydroping now it is about 138 and i am

loosing about 1-2 pounds a week (i'm not trying to lose weight

intentioally) so I don't know if this answers your question.
