Guest guest
Hi archangelmark, I just need to answer the first part of your question. Yes, I had rashes all the time in the beginning. I had rashes between my fingers and on the trunk of my body. Sometimes the rashes would appear on my arms and legs, but not all at once. I couldn't wear my wedding band or ear rings for several years because of the rashes and they itched as well.  The episodes eventually get further and further apart. That reaction tells you that bugs are active and your body is reacting to them.  I used some Benadryl cream to ease the itch which helped. Sometimes, I took benadryl capsules. You can buy them over the counter. But, please , when you see your doctor, ask him/her if it is okay to take benadryl. Don't take it because it helped me. All people react differently to medication. And the sinus runny nose was nearly constant the first year & a half. In fact, I still have times when the runny nose returns and stays for a few weeks and sometimes even a month. I have been on low dose antibiotics since Jan. 2006. I am still on a maintenance dose on MWF. I reached remission 18 months ago when all my blood work turned sero negative. Someone on this board will probably give you some names of docs in your area. I don't live on mainland U.S. Welcome to the board. Dolores  From: archangelmark28334 <archangelMark@...> Subject: rheumatic Anyone from NC?? rheumatic Date: Monday, June 21, 2010, 9:03 PM  My mom is diagnoesed with systematic scleroderma. Guest guest
All the peeling and dryness sounds like she may be dehydrated. Is she getting enough fluids? Try to keep some fluids, hot or cold next to her to sip all day long and see if that is an improvement. You'll have to do the calling for the docs nearest you. Ask them questions. Meanwhile, google up the FAQ sheet, Frequently Asked Questions re; Antibiotic Protocol. All your answers should be on that sheet. Bring a copy with you to your appointment and let the doctor know that she would like to get started on antibiotics as soon as possible, but that she needs a blood workup to see what bacteria is causing the infection. If you can't find a Rheumatologist, check out the Infectious Disease doctors. IF doctors, will be more willing to write scripts for any and all infections she may have. You can get referrals from your nearest hospital.  You are going to have to get proactive if you want to help her. There are some very good books on the subject. You both should read them. Go to Amazon .com, and search for books on Scleroderma or Arthritis. Two good ones are " Scleroderma, The Proven Therapy that can save your life " by Henry Scammell. And the Road Back, by Dr. MacPherson Brown. There is also an excellent book on Arthritis, called, " The New Arthritis Breakthrough " by Henry Scammell. Another good book is, " Solving The Puzzling Problem of Arthritis, by Pat Ganger and Carol Lange. You can order these on-line, new or used. They are very low priced and if you can not afford it, get your library to order the copies for you at another branch. Find a college nearby that has a medical section, they might have it.  If they can't, see if there are copies in your area, that you can borrow. Keep trying. It sounds like her life depends on you getting the information for her. This takes work! Nobody can cure her but she with your help. You have quite a job ahead of you and she has quite a journey. But it will be well worth it. I assure you, I went through it.  I am 73. I got diagnosed 5 years ago and was very ill for several years before that without a diagnosis. I was very close to her age when I got sick. No one is ever too old to try and get better Good luck to both of you. She is at the age where she is eligible for Medicare and that is a good thing. She should have no trouble getting her medical care and medications. Our best to both of you,  Dolores & Mike   From: archangelmark28334 <archangelMark@...> Subject: rheumatic Re: Anyone from NC?? rheumatic Date: Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 3:10 PM  Do all these doctors (listed from NC) do the antibiotic protocal?? Guest guest
I don't have Scleroderma, but I use to have these same symptoms.  Since I have been on AP (10 + yrs) it has disappeared . Get your mother on AP, and then a neti pot to flush out the mucus and the bacteria that has set-up in her sinus cavity. When I had dry mucus even the neti pot did NOT work, as it was just to much to handle. The neti pot that i found to work the best is http://www.amazon.com/SinuCleanse-Squeeze-Nasal-Wash-Kit/dp/B00168H6UC/ref=sr_1_\ 2?ie=UTF8 & s=hpc & qid=1277239677 & sr=1-2. I Have both the 1 that looks like a genie lamp, but the mucus was so pack that the water could not flow out the other nostril. Guest guest
My lips peel when I don't get the right ratio of calcium and magnesium. It's primarily the lower lip & the craziest thing. I've never met anyone else who has had this symptom. I thought I was the only one. I can actually cause the peeling within a half hour by taking the wrong ratio, and can start the healing with the 'right' ratio. I've figured out how to control it. Guest guest
No, I do not have sclerderma. My nose is OK. Just my lips. It is a CONSTANT thing with me. I must take calcium and magnesium (together) through out the day to keep it at bay. If I miss a day, then I upset the balance & takes a day or two to straighten that out again. I cannot take cal without mag or I will have a problem. Amy archangelmark28334 wrote: > > > Amy do you have scleroderma?
