Guest guest
Congratulations. Zithromycin is another one of the abx's that I used while on the Marshall Protocol. A/P stands for antibiotic protocol, so yes, as long as you are taking these antibiotics you are still on the protocol Towards the end of my protocol, I used at least 3 different antibiotics in combos and I think that is what final gave me the push to get to remission....I am happy for you. Now that you are back on antibiotics, stay there and don't get discouraged. It is a long journey and not all of it is pleasant. You will have days that will make you want to quit. When that happens, get on the computer and tell us all about it. We will help you through the bumps.   Take care. Glad you found this group.....Hang in there!~~~~Dolores From: maryo708 <maryo708@...> Subject: rheumatic Talked with Dr. Sinnott rheumatic Date: Wednesday, September 8, 2010, 10:36 PM  Whew! What a difference a day makes...no make that what a difference an hour makes! A half hour with Dr. Sinnott by phone. You are right, Debbie. What a kind and caring person he is! Thank you, thank you...to you and Sally both for the recommendations and all of you for the encouragement. Dr. Sinnott thought too (Debbie, Dolores, Maz) that allergies and a supersensitivity had developed. So he ordered me a script for Zithromycin...started right away..already taken 500 mg this afternoon and evening...and no side effects that I detect. My breathing, though not perfect, has not been affected by this drug as yet. Wow, a relief to think that this may be the answer...to my breathing problems (and not one of the lung diseases) and to staying on Antibiotic Therapy. Can I still call it the AP (protocol) if not on MIno? I'd still like to return to Mino one day for the more specific targeting of mycoplasms. I have my fingers crossed (not really, that would hurt) to see if this will actually be effective like the Mino. But for now I'm filled with gratitude and have forgotten my tears and fears of this morning...mostly. Meanwhile I'll be reading and listening and learning. And I'll keep you all posted as to my 'new' progress. I am still pretty good, tho hips feel like they got hit with sledgehammers...finger joint pain, some swelling. I have decided to hold off for a week to see what happens and then whether to get the PFT (pulmonary test). Get some cardio info then as well, hopefully. Thanks, Debbie, for the info on the finger test thingy. That would be nice. O
Guest guest
What fantastic news ,,, So glad you decided to give it another shot. As to you still saying you are on AP although not on mino or doxy or whatever, join the club O ... I take 4 different antibiotics & none of them are mino or doxy. If you are using abx to control/get rid of your disease I consider you to be on AP -- think my AP Dr would agree with me !!! Good luck, Maz > > Whew! Guest guest
, glad you persevered and were able to speak with Dr. S...yes, he is a terrific physician...I like Zithromyacin as well...whenever I get an upper respiratory, my physicians usually go to that..and I like that because my SD and RA issues seem to abate...Dr. W did not want me on it long term tho fearing I would build up an immunity....I was on minocin for 2+ years...Glad your breathing has not been harmed by the Zmax...good...it is so different for everyone...what works for one, may not work for another..etc...And yes, it is still called the ABX therapy or AP even if its not minocin...because its still an abx... I hope you are able to get a pulse ox...I keep mine by my night stand and take it with me...just a little finger thing that I can carry in my purse...but if I feel my breathing is compromised, I can ck it...when I see that 97 or 98 I know that is allergies or something else...because my body is getting oxygen just fine.. Guest guest
Hi everybody. I didn't know that doctors could treat someone they have never seen over the phone and send them a prescription. Just wondered if this is legal. How does Dr. Sinnot make his money? Or for that matter, if a doctor treats over the phone, how do they bill Insurance? I live in Puerto Rico. If a doctor gives a prescription for a pain med, it is only good at the pharmacy for 24 hours. If the script is not filled in 24 hours, you need to go back to the doctor for a new script. Is it the same in the states?   Second question I need to ask.   Neither the doctor nor the pharmacy has any control over medication. It is up to the insurance company. Doc ordered eye drops for my mom. she has end-stage  glaucoma. The script calls for 1 drop in each. eye daily. Well, everybody knows that when you squeeze that little rubber thing sometimes a drop or two may come out. Or, sometimes my mom will shut her eye just as the drop falls and runs down her cheek and then I have to give her another drop. Well, apparently the drops were counted and I ran out of solution several days before the refill. Would you believe that the Insurance company would not allow the Pharmacy to refill the bottle. So, my mom has to go without her drops until the refill date. I couldn't believe it. She never had an HMO before, so we never ran into this problem.  Do all HMO's do this or is this just the one my Mom has. Before when she was just on Medicare, she could get all the eye drops and medication she needed, with a prescription, of course. Now, even the drops are counted. I would like to know if other HMO's  are so restrictive.  Are HMO's allowed to refuse the patient medication because it is no longer on their formulary. I was taking certain diabetes &  antihypertensive medications and now I cannot get it any more. I can only get what they allow. Who is doing the ordering? The doctor, or the HMO. Do the HMO's have a license to change medications on their own. What is the policy in the states. This may just be how they run things in Puerto Rico...... I am worried that I will no longer be able to get my Brand named Minocin any more. It is all I have taken for 5+ years. Let me know how it is in your different areas.  Dolores . Guest guest
I have taken my son to see Dr. Sinnot many times. Dr. Sinnot was the one who helped me get off of the methotrexate and steroids. He is now retired and God bless him he still wants to help folks. He does a lot without charging. Not all doctors are in it for the money. We also had a chiropractor here in St. Louis who saw for free (for us). He didn't charge the insurance co-pay, though he did charge insurance. Thank heavens some doctors really want to heal people and the almighty dollar is not their motivation. God bless us all. Diane p.s. is having a terrible flare right now. Any prayers his way are so much appreciated. And as always, I am praying for you all, as well. ________________________________ From: rheumatic [mailto:rheumatic ] On Behalf Of mike rosner Sent: Saturday, September 11, 2010 9:55 PM rheumatic Subject: Re: rheumatic Talked with Dr. Sinnott Hi everybody. Thanks, Debbie, for the info on the finger test thingy. That would be nice. O
Guest guest
Cooky, Oh Yes, I did see my baby...I was screaming myself hoarse...scared the ---- out of my poor dogs! The game was awesome...and I called and ordered Direct Tv so I don't miss any games...I just can't miss any of his games...LOL hubby was not thrilled...but they have Sunday football pkg...after football season is over...I will downgrade my pkg to just cable.. hehe Yes, I was surprised he did that for me years ago...most, as you said, will not...I frankly, don't think he should but am glad he does! :>))))) Hugs back at you my Steeler friend!! I am soooo happy...did you see that interception...Oh My Goodness...I was thrilled out of my mind!! RE: rheumatic Talked with Dr. Sinnott Deb, Did you see TROY today?? WOW…great game. As for dr. Sennott I’m sure he is a great doc and humanitarian. I’m just surprised he sends scripts to people he has not seen in his office. Most docs would not. Hugs, cooky HI all, re Dr. Sinnott...I know that DR. S sent me a script for minocin many years ago...and we chatted several times via telephone...he did not ask for ins info as he had not ever seen me..but I sent him a ck to help with costs...he is a good, caring physician. Guest guest
well, i keep learning from everyone. Is it important to be taking brand name minocin? I take minocikline manufactured by Teva. Medicare pays most of it (plus it's only about $30.00 month) where in cananda are you getting brand minocin? is a prescription needed? thanks, sally Re: rheumatic Talked with Dr. Sinnott Hi everybody. I didn't know that doctors could treat someone they have never seen over the phone and send them a prescription. Just wondered if this is legal.YEAH DOLORES I WAS WONDERING THE SAME THING. Is it the same in the states?NOT THAT I KNOW OF Second question I need to ask. Before when she was just on Medicare, she could get I DON’T THINK THEY COUNT THE DROPS BUT THEY ONLY REFIL IN 30 DAYS TIME SO IF YOU RUN OUT THEY WILL NOT REFILL. all the eye drops and medication she needed, with a prescription, of course. Now, even the drops are counted. I would like to know if other HMO's are so restrictive. Are HMO's allowed to refuse the patient medication because it is no longer on their formulary. YES THEY CAN REFUSE TO PAY FOR IT BUT IF YOU PAY OUT OF POCKET YOU CAN STILL GET IT. I was taking certain diabetes & antihypertensive medications and now I cannot get it any more. I can only get what they allow.YEP Who is doing the ordering? The doctor, or the HMO. Do the HMO's have a license to change medications on their own. THEY CAN SUBSTITUTE A GENERIC IF IT COMES GENERIC. What is the policy in the states. This may just be how they run things in Puerto Rico...... I am worried that I will no longer be able to get my Brand named Minocin any more. THIS IS WHY A LOT OF US ORDER DRUGS FROM CANADA. THEY ONLY PAY FOR GENERIC.YOU SHOULD GO TO A PHARMACY THERE AND PRICE NAME BRAND MINOCIN. IT IS USUALLY CHEEPER OUT OF THE US. It is all I have taken for 5+ years. Guest guest
Hi Dolores, Sorry I closed the puter early last night and have been off all day. I’m glad to see others have answered your questions. Things have changed since the gvnment has added prescription coverage to medicare. If you have an HMO you probably have a presc plan built in but you need to make sure. If you have medicare you need to look in your book and find a company that either offers supplemental insurance with medicine coverage or one with just medicine coverage. There is a separate charge for this thru the government..it will come out of your check. We were given a specific time to decide on a carrier and if we chose not to at that time there would be a monitary penality when you do pick one. These insurance plans for medicine have formulary’s. These are the drugs they will pay for. There are tiers of costs. Minocin is not even listed. Generic is but still pricy. I get my brand Minocin from Canada. The place I get mine is www.buylowdrugs.com I pay around $150 for 100 caps. Yes I need a script. Here is a list that Harold (one of our terrific members) has put together of the best places http://www.tmgp.com/minocin.htm I hit my donut hole last month so I have to pay out of pocket from now on. Even before the donut hole I had to watch everything any doc ordered for me. I was told to take a sinus med early this year and never bothered to ask if it was generic. Had hubby go to the pharm for me and when he brought it home it cost something like $190 for my insurance and $60 for me. That was over $250 in one swoop out of my limit. This is how THAT works… A doc orders a drug it is generic You may pay $30 for the prescription depending on your plan. Your ins co may have to pay $100 for their share…Together it is $130 this is what is taken off your limit for the year. Some brand name drugs may cost $300 or more for the ins co to pay this is taken from your limit. I can’t remember what the limit is but something like $3,000 a year. I never hit the donut hole before. Also you pay less if you order by mail and get 3 months supply rather than getting it at the pharmacy. So what if you are allergic or the generic doesn’t work and you got 3 months of it…yeah they don’t take it back and you are out all that. Someone else has answered your question about the donut hole. This is the reason I was asking what happens to the people who reach the donut hole…pay thru that and then the insurance starts to pay again. No ins that I know of pays for brand at that point. Hope I answered your questions. Insurance when your old or on disability stinks. cooky From: rheumatic [mailto:rheumatic ] On Behalf Of mike rosner Sent: Monday, September 13, 2010 12:54 AM rheumatic Subject: Re: rheumatic Talked with Dr. Sinnott Hi Cooky, thanks for answering all my questions. Guest guest
Hi all, does anybody know why my son (10 years old) might not be getting the same benefit from minocin as he was from the erythrocyn (is that how you spell it?) He has been flaring and even after going to see Doc Sinnot in late May early June he still has not improved. He had serious swelling in his knees, ankles, wrists, feet, etc. Also, who was it that had the doctor's list. The one on the Arthritis Trust website is obsolete as far as MO goes. We just went to a naturopath today, hoping we can get him back to good shape. Thanks, God bless.
