Please check out http://diabetesinsipidus.maxinter.net/ Diabetes Insipidus has NOTHING to do with sugar diabetes - it is all about the use of water in the body - please look at this website. Guest guest
, Here is a re-post of the Diabetes Insipidus info I sent out on the weekend - it may help Jai. For me it is a secondary to the neurosarcoid.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Diabetes Insipidus (DI) DI is defined as a condition in which urine is not concentrated (urine is dilute or water-like). Concentration of urine in normally functioning individuals is the consequence of secretion of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) by the posterior pituitary gland in the brain, and a corresponding reaction by receptors on the kidneys. ADH tells the kidneys how much water to keep in the body and how much water to eliminate as urine. There are at least two separate types of DI. In Central Diabetes Insipidus (CDI, also known as Vasopressin-sensitive DI), the pituitary gland fails to produce ADH. In Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus (NDI, also known as "antidiuretic hormone" or Vasopressin-resistant DI), the pituitary gland may be secreting ADH, but the kidneys fail to react to it. The treatments for either of these root causes are entirely different. The basic symptoms for both disorders are however the same and generally include: Persistent thirst, drinking large amounts of fluids, and urinating frequently Susceptibility to de-hydration and blood electrolyte imbalance(s) A variety of other symptoms which are age and type of DI dependent Diabetes Insipidus is a rare disorder. As a result of its rarity, few doctors have experience treating patients, and may therefore not diagnose it correctly. There is a not so fun test called a Water Depravation Test to find out over a 5 hour period if you have diabetes insipidus or not. And there is a medication you can take should you have DI. This type of diabetes is not related to sugars, insulin or diet. It is a totally different condition. For more information please visit the Diabetes Insipidus Foundation. http://diabetesinsipidus.maxinter.net/ Founded by n Arminger, the goal of the Diabetes Insipidus Foundation is improved treatment, and ultimately the prevention and cure of all forms of Diabetes Insipidus through research. The DI Foundation promotes a greater public understanding of the disease, and will serve patients and their families with informational material through the quarterly publication of the "Endless Water" newsletter, and through promoting Diabetes Insipidus as "a Different Diabetes" so that people will know there is another Diabetes. *=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*Believe that there's a light at the end of the tunnel.Believe that you may be that light for someone else.- Kobi Yamada*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=* Aisha ElderwynICQ 55461955aisha@...http://www.elderwyn.com/aishaMailing list: AishaElderwyn-subscribeegroupsBeing Sick:
Guest guest
, There was a study recently that found that most people with arthritis have some degree of depression. It is an exquisitely depressing disease. When I was really sick, I would say it's like cancer except you don't die. There is not normally profound shortening of life with RS. The most serious thing that can happen is heart valve damage, but that's not typical and can be detected with echocardiogram and treated. It sounds like your husband really needs a psychologist who specializes in treating patients with chronic illnesses. Anti-depressants are critical for people with chronic rheumatic disease, they help with mood and actually help with nerve pain. A chronic pain center (pain management practice) might be a good place to find a psychiatrist or psychologist experienced at helping chronic illness issues. It is important to have a compassionate rheumatologist. If I were in Gainesville, FL, I would go to the University of Florida to see a rheumatologist on the faculty there. There are two good websites for rheumatologist info.: www.arthritis.org <http://www.arthritis.org> and www.rheumatology.org <http://www.rheumatology.org> I just checked on risg.org physician info section and I don't seen any recommendations for Gainesville. University of Florida medical school Health Sciences Center and the websites mentioned above should be useful. Guest guest
Hi, Brennan: Sorry about your Reiter's Syndrome, but this is Chlamydia-Reactive Arthritis and if you are susceptible to Ankylosing Spondylitis it is starting to evolve into this (which is really the result of many waves of Klebsiella-Reactive Arthritis). Very important to treat using proper antibiotics, but be certain to combine diet therapy because if you evolve into AS you will need to maintain the antibiotic option and not develop resistive colonies. Basically, eliminate all starches while on the antibiotics--no flour products, potatoes, beans, etc. YouTube has a lecture bit by Professor Ebringer on Diet and AS. Guest guest
,  I can't express to you the feeling of thanks I extend. This has been a living nightmare. At times I think it could be something else like MS, or something that's going to paralyze me... I just applied for insurance and up til now the local doctors don't seem to care or have never even heard of reiters syndrome... I live in Las Vegas and am trying to find someone who can treat me locally with the antibiotics I need. I have an appointment with 2 different rheumatologist; one here in Vegas in 2 weeks that doesn't do antibiotic treatment and one in scottsdale, az in December that does. I feel like I can't get help fast enough... I want to be proactive and start towards a cure as soon as possible. I am 38 and a very healthy person... Any information that you can give me would be extremely appreciated... You seem educated about this and your wisdom is of great value to me.  thank u  brennen... Guest guest
I have Reiter's here are a couple of good websites... also how you contract it makes a difference in symptoms, and i cant find that page right now, but when i do, i will send it. it can be from and STD or from a salmonella type bacteria. your urinary system and eyes can be affected in addition to lower back-those are the 3 main areas, along with all the joint pain. I went to a rhuematologist along with eye doc and urologist. did not do AP, until after getting sinus, bronchitis infections, and on and off antibiotics seemed to work without me trying. i may possibly be in remission. I'll be praying for you.. Guest guest
Dear Vinnylid, You are actually very lucky that only after 3 months, you are already on minocycline. It is an amazing drug for reactive arthritis. I suffered for 2 years before I was actually diagnosed with reactive arthritis(Reiter's) and put on AP. It sounds like you are responding already. Keep it up. rheumatic Re: reiters syndrome > > Hello, My name is Brennen, and I just joined this site... I am baffled > as to what is happening with me... Guest guest
No, I think it's going to be chronic, unfortunately. But the minocycline is working so well that I am dealing with it in a very optimistic way. Brennen, I just read what you had written to -the fact that your arthritis started in only one joint and then spread, is classic for Reactive Arthritis. Mine started in my left shoulder, and now, 4 years later, it's much more spread out. Mine hit very suddenly and severely and effected my hips, shoulders, knees, spinal column and some fingers. The arthritis hit long before the skin Psoriasis was obvious. I got the inflammation under control with prednisone and then started 100mg twice per day Minocycline and weaned off Prednisone. I still am using the 200mg per day Minocycline and the nsaid Diclofenac once per day. This regimen keeps me free of static pain and I can play golf again. vinny
Guest guest
I'm pretty new to this site, and I have never actively been involved in the discussions. But, when I saw your e-mail, I felt so bad for you, that I needed to help. I really never understood the mycoplasm theory. But, what was explained to me, is that when you get the infection in your body(yours being chlamydia), the original antibiotics aren't enough to kill the bacteria and get the dead bacteria removed from your body. So, the dead bacteria migrate to the joints and sit there and don't allow them to work properly. I'm telling you-I was so sick-I couldn't even lift a phone to talk-I was in bed 24/7, sleeping most of the day, and feeling so much pain, first in my left shoulder, then my knees, wrists, elbows, etc. Less than two weeks on the antibiotic(I started with Doxycycline 200mg daily), I was feeling amazingly better. It takes some people a little longer to respond. The difference was unbelievable. Any other questions, feel free to ask. I am unfortunately, a maven.
