Guest guest
I have been on prednisone for 3 years, started at about 15 to 20 mgs, then down to 10 mg and 7 for the longest time. I did get the bloated face thing and gained some weight but the relief it gave me was worth it. The bad news is that I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis (most likely from the prednisone), so I am trying to wean off....right now at 2.5 mg every other day. I think if you are under 10mg they consider that relatively safe. Sue rheumatic low dose Prednisone prescribed Hi, folks, Dr, Whitman just prescribed a low dose of Prednisone in addition to the doxcycline and zithromax that I take (on different days). Prednisone makes me worry, but it's only 3 mg a day, M,, T, W. Th. I took my dose this morning and feel better than I have for a long time as it's been pretty painful, especially after I had to get off Minocin. Has anyone else been on such a low dose of Prednisone, and should I expect any of the side effects? It's such a relief to be able to ask the group questions like this! Guest guest
Sue, how long did it take to wean down from the 7mg to 2.5mg every other day. I have just weaned from 5mg every day to 5mg every other day & it's been a long slow process. I'm having great difficulty getting any lower. _____ From: rheumatic [mailto:rheumatic ] On Behalf Of Sue Emrick Sent: Tuesday, November 04, 2008 3:02 PM rheumatic Subject: Re: rheumatic low dose Prednisone prescribed I have been on prednisone for 3 years, started at about 15 to 20 mgs, then down to 10 mg and 7 for the longest time. Guest guest
I already gave osteoporosis, though not badly, just over the line from osteopena. I hope my doctor remembered this when he prescribed for me or if I should call him back and tell him. I hope I don't have to get off it because i had such a good day. W hat do people think? L. Guest guest
Hi I also Dr. whitman too. I asked him to prescribe low dose prednisone for me about 10 months ago. My inflammation was very high and I thought I need to lower my inflammation to allow minocin to work. He prscribed 2.0 mg medrol four times a week. Actually It was helped me with pain. but I stop taking it after three months. I didn't see side effects but I was afraid of side effects. so I stop taking it. soheila From: Beckman <beckman5@...> Subject: rheumatic low dose Prednisone prescribed rheumatic Date: Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 12:02 PM Hi, folks, Dr, Whitman just prescribed a low dose of Prednisone in addition to the doxcycline and zithromax that I take (on different days). Guest guest
Soheila, I am thinking I better call Dr Whitman back and remind him that I have slight osteoporosis. After you stopped taking it, did the inflammation come back? Did it come back completely? On Nov 4, 2008, at 5:06 PM, soheila A wrote: > Hi > > I also Dr. whitman too.
