Guest guest
Ken, I used to take orencia drip $2,000 once a month. It was fantastic and worked like nothing I've ever tried. It was like a miracle. My insurance paid for it in full. All was wonderful until my company (got cheap) and changed our insurance plan. Now we have to pay out of pocket co-pays. The co-pay for that was just more than I could handle monthly. I have been trying many inexpensive R/A medications lately one of which was * Methotrexate*. I had a violent reaction to it. It was not like your reaction at all. I threw up all weekend and ached all over horribly. We immediately discontinued it. I am trying now AZATHIOPRINE - 50MG TAB-1 DAILY. I can't tell any real dif yet but my Doc said it takes a month to begin working. So here we go again. I researching AP and LDN now. I hope you figure this out soon Ken and wish you all the very best. Guest guest
Hello, Ken: MTX stomps on the immune system such that any 'lurking' pathogens, normally kept in check by that immune system, will emerge and can cause trouble. The dry cough could be due to a variety of germs and even viruses; it is impossible to say which one. Even important to have the TB test before starting MTX as with anti-tnf-a biologics. NSAIDs, and specifically the diclofenac, are murder on the entire alimentary system and the damage cannot be prevented (only the effects covered up temporarily) by other drugs. Voltaren greatly accelerated my AS and also gave me new symptoms and even polyarthritis due to LGS it caused. I regret ever starting this drug and encourage everyone else to abandon its use in favor of more natural approaches and those treatments that actually eliminate the cause instead of hiding symptoms. Good Luck, whatever You do, From: Ken <maputo95@...> Subject: rheumatic Inflammation? rheumatic Date: Thursday, July 22, 2010, 2:39 AM  Hi All Can anyone identify with the experience I am about to describe while on Methotrexate? For months, I have had a dry, hacking cough and during the last two months, a pain whenever I swallowed food or burped. This may be a possible ulcer or hernia. These symptoms were accompanied by fatigue. My GP put me on Rinitidine an anti-ulcer tablet but the symptoms worsened over a month. I then stopped the Methotrexate and took Arthrotec, declofenic(?) and my wheezy chest became much less wheezy and I can swallow food and burp with 5% of the pain. Where my symptoms caused by MTX and/or inflammation? Has anyone been similarly affected by their RA/medication in the past? Please feel free to comment and share? Ken. Guest guest
Hello, Some help/insight please. I've been on AP for 3 weeks (RA 4 years). Don't go to rhemy, but still on 5mg prednisone daily. I'm reading on this site about LND. Do you suggest adding that to AP? With being on prednisone ok? Have apt. with AP doc middle of August, but he is helping me by phone. Guest guest
Sally... I took hydrocortisone for about 3 years during the worst of the rheumatoid and it helped me thru the pain. You need to have something to keep the inflammation down so the antibiotics can get in there and kill the mycoplasma. If you can get along with just NSAIDS then that's good but some people need something stronger and I could not take NSAIDS . Guest guest
Didn't Dr. Brown allow a short course of low-dose prednisone or hydrocortisone if a person was in a lot of pain and inflammation? I believe his reasoning was that the inflammation had to be brought under control to allow the minocin to be effective. rheumatic Inflammation? > rheumatic > Date: Thursday, July 22, 2010, 2:39 AM > > Â > > Hi All > > Can anyone identify with the experience I am about to describe while on Methotrexate? > > For months, I have had a dry, hacking cough and during the last two months, a pain whenever I swallowed food or burped. Guest guest
Thanks all for your reply. I will (again) slowly lower my 5mg pred. I'm taking lots other stuff to enhance my immune system. I kinda doing this on my own without seeing a doc for last 2 years. Actually, feel like my research is putting me on a path of healing, not what doc wanted me on. It still amazes me, and shocks me, that I've been homebound for almost 4 years! I'll be 60 next month, feel like and look like 40.....oh yea, until you see me move! What a life! Sally rheumatic Re: Inflammation? Guest guest
Correction, I should have said, (short. term use of Prednisone is used to reduce inflammation, Long term use and high dosages are counterproductive, Weaning should take place before adding anymore drugs to A/P. How else would you know what is working?  R U also on hydrocortisone? I use hydrocortisone creme 1 % to reduce the redness & itching of mosquito bites when I can't sleep. The use is rare & intermittent. Dolores From: Ethel Snooks <emsnooks@...> Subject: Re: rheumatic Re: Inflammation? rheumatic Date: Friday, July 23, 2010, 2:42 PM  Yes, he did, .
