Also just wanted to say I just this morning got into a size 14 denimjumper! ;-)))My underpants are also beginning to feel bigger! Yippeee!!!!

Hey............ I walked 4 miles this morning and sweated

like crazy and weighed 151 temporarily. Since then I

have had lunch and 32 oz of water, so I hope tomorrow's

visit to the scale rewards me with atleast 152.

Oh I just got news from my son in Kosovo, that the Army is letting him

come home for his baby's birth! Hope he makes it! He is coming home

Sept 27th, baby's due date is October 4th! I told my DIL it could go 2

weeks in either direction, & she said, " oh no, the Dr. said October 4th

is the due date! " LOL!!

Don, Welcome to the group! I'm sure you'll find the same thing I have since

joining a few days ago: the group is packed with wonderful, supportive and

caring people who have been there and want to help us along our journey.

I'm almost 52 (Dec 25) and carry 253 lbs on a 5'2 " frame that was made to

carry about 125. I have bad hips, bad hips, bad feet (can hardly blame them

for hurting with all the weight I've subjected them to!) , asthma........I,

too, feel that I simply have to do something or I won't live to see my

grandchildren grow up. There are many helpful articles on the web if you

just put " Gastric Bypass " or " Weight Loss surgery " and hit search. I've

began a scrapbook of articles, information, etc. to help me get prepared and

informed before my surgery. Hope we can keep in touch and support each other

hello my name is don. im 54 yrs old. 450 lbs i have insipidus,

diabetes,hight blood preasure, high chlostoral, bad knees, bad hips, and

feel like i have little time left to do something. im have not yet looked

for a doctor to do surgery. i live in lewisburg tennessee. i dont really

know anything about the procedure. i just know ive been on every diet you

can think of and no good. thank you.

I read the GBIC notes daily and love your care for your " brothers and

sisters " in this area. I just had to write to you to Congratulate you on

passing that 60 # mark.....just yesterday your notes ended with 59#

gone....in fact, I think I even read one today that said that.....I'm so

happy for you....must be that walk on the beach to get your daughter's

glove that moved the scale a bit, huh? LOL. :o}

Yeah, I'm very excited about passing the 60 pound mark. I try not to

weigh more than once a week and when the scale moved down three more pounds

yesterday, I was very happy.

Pretty soon, I'll weigh less than Corb. Yippee!

Well, there certainly was one advantage, of a sort, to being diabetic when I

had my TT -- they wanted me first up in the operating room. Of course, that

meant getting to the hospital at 5am (to be sure not to keep the doctor

waiting when HE was ready to start)! I didn't mind so much -- alls I had to

do was roll out of bed and into my parents' car; they're the ones who had to

actually do something other than go to sleep all day!

I say go for it. I set my original goal at 144 and am now 116. I never

thought I could maintain it, but I do with lots of exercise (which I

thoroughly enjoy) and 25-30 points a day. I figure when I hit my 40s my

metabolism will slow down a bit and then I might add a few pounds, but

I'll still be below my goal.

, it's not giving up freedom, just doing what is sensible.

Falling is all part of the blankety-blank disease, believe me after

having this disease for 30 years, I am an expert. I have taken my share

of falling and paying emergency rooms big bucks. Falling doesn't have

to make one give up what they still can do. So we trip-up once in

awhile, that doesn't mean we give up. Common sense will tell you what

you can and can't do. Don't let other's take your freedom from you,

just you decide what you can and can't do. Be careful and do whatever

it take's to keep you going, walker, wheelchair whatever!!

, we all have trouble with giving up our independence. Its not easy

but you'll find out very quickly what you can or cannot do. From your e-mail

it sounds like you don't use any assistance with walking. Why not try a

walker. I found with it I can do a lot more. It is good for loading all kinds

of

stuff allowing you keep your hands for balancing yourself. Its not easy to

give in to using an aid but believe me I'm glad I did...............flora

Compromise and be truthful, if you say you won't do something, don't.

but, like the garbage, compromise and say you will take it out only when

someone is home or something like that...

Hi :

Yes, you most definitely are not alone in this respect. I made the decision in

November to quit driving and although I really miss it I know it was the right

thing to do. All of these things we have to sacrifice are like getting over

hurdles and once we are over it takes awhile to adjust - but I do in time.

Hey Everybody,

Ive been grounded.I went to take the trash out the other day and

trip over a piece of dust on the carport.LOL I fell face first into

a cement step.My mother in Law who lives next door happened to see

me and called my wife.My wife rushed home from work scared to death

and took me to the hospital.The Dr sewed my lip back together and

charged me 400 dollars.My wife told me I cant take the trash out

anymore.She also told me Im to only do light cleaning when Im at

home by myself.She says the kids can do the rest.I understand her

point but I hate giving up some freedoms.

My Dr said something about a wheelchair and my wife told her they

would have to kill me first and thats true.I think Im going to see

about getting braces after christmas.The MDA said they would pay for

them.Does anybody else have the same trouble giving up freedoms?
