Guest guest
>>I was taking the following at the time of this test: 6 pills Ioscort/day 100 mcg Synthroid/day 1 grain Armour/day 10 mg DHEA/Day << Well this voids 9your cortisoll result. You need ot be off ALL adrenal support that contains cortisl (Isocort) for at least 2 weeks prior to testing to get accurate results. What was your T4? From your estradil results I do nto think youre cortils is really badly low. Or it is in the process of falling now., -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
I didn't have my T4 levels checked via saliva, but I had my TSH, T4, and T3 checked via blood about 2 months prior - TSH was 0.5, Free T4 was upper range of normal. But I still have tons of sypmtoms of both low adrenals and low thyroid. I didn't realize until I joined the forum that I needed to be off all cortisol supplments prior to saliva testing. But isn't that fact that my cortisol levels were low AND I was taking Iscort a bit concerning? Do you think I should re-do the test? Also, any suggestions on getting HC w/o a prescription? > > >>I was taking the following at the time of this test: > 6 pills Ioscort/day > 100 mcg Synthroid/day > 1 grain Armour/day > 10 mg DHEA/Day << > > Well this voids 9your cortisoll result. Guest guest
If it were me with these labs I owuld get off the Isocort, wean down, then restes once you have been off it for at least 2 weeks. You really need claroification before going ot a stronger cortiosl med. Your estrogen says you are n0t that klow in cortiosl and your high T4 and symptoms coulkd actually be form HIGH cortisl blocking conversion to T3. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Thanks for the advice. Should I also be off of DHEA as well? What about thyroid? I feel like I really can't go off of that for 2 weeks and function, since I don't have a thyroid. It still really bothers me that my results showed that I was in stage 5 while I was taking Isocort. Guest guest
Thre is some supresion of th4e HPA axis when oyu take any med containing cortisl. This may be why you hsowed stage 5, it may nto be thta bad. It is not necessary to change thyroid doising buti think I would also stop DHEA as well. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
- There is something I should probably clarify - I also had a 4 point cortisol/est/Prog/Test saliva test done in Nov 06. The AM/Noon/ and PM cortisol results were low, which is why I started taking the Isocort. So the test I had done in Nov 06 was to see if I had made any improvement. Since I wasn't feeling much better, and the results came back virtually the same as they had in Nov 06 (low AM/Noon/PM cortisol, high Eve cortisol, Ave Estrogen, High Progestrone, and High Testosterone, I am assuming that the Ioscort wasn't doing much. Is there any point at which a person should stay on the cortisols during the testing period? Since I had already established a baseline while not on them, I just assumed that I should stay on them for the second test. >

They are NOT accurate. The best way to tewll if you have had improvemnent is to monitor glucose if you are on higher doses of HC or if on Isocort normal estrogen levels and ability to ioptimize thyroid are the best means you have of determineing proper dosing. Temper ature graphing while ramping up the meds tells you wwhen you are high enough ot otlerate thyroid. It is complicated but testing while on meds hsows weither the body waiting for the med as in your case (low) or if you take meds that day high, and shows nothing of what your adrenals are able to do on their own as it takes at least 2 weeks for the HPA axis to return ot normal function once oyu stop the meds. Once you are OPTIMAL on HC with using temp graphing then you try ot optimize thyroid THEN you try to slowly redue HC this is the method of healing that seems ot work. Going off meds before there is healing is nothign but a setback. Trying to guess what is going on by teesting taking ONE day off meds is just thta guessing. > > > -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
okay.... Can you give a quick rundown on how to do the temperature taking/ graphing, especially since I'll be taking thyroid during the graphing? And if it turns out that I do need HC after saliva re-testing, is there a place to get it without an Rx? > > Testing while ON cortilsl supplements is a waste of money. They are NOT accurate. Guest guest
Temps : CHoose a time when you are always up at least 3 hours to start for the day. Say you normally get up at 7 on weekdays and 8am on weekends, you would start your temp graphing temps at 11AM every day. take them 11 am 2PM and 5PM every day. Each day add the three temps together and that is the temp you put on your graph, which you can down load a blank for your use from www.drrind.com . -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
