Hello everyone. I've been reading posts here for the past few weeks and thought

I'd post

my info and see if anyone has any thoughts on my condition and treatment. I'm

giving my

history, so I apologize that it's a little long.

I was diagnosed hypoT in June of 2007 with a TSH of 5.2 and FT4 of .8. My

family doc

wasn't alarmed, but agreed to treat me because of my symptoms and my insistence.

He

put me on 25 mg Levoxyl and then upped the dosage to 50 mg. He thought my labs

looked fine then so he wouldn't do anything more even though my symptoms

persisted

(fatigue, weak and achy muscles, brain fog, hypoglycemia, waking unrefreshed,

extreme

tiredness in afternoons, anxiety, hair loss, etc.) Instead, he suggested that

if I lost weight,

my conditions would improve.

I saw a new doc in November who diagnosed me with adrenal fatigue. She changed

my

meds to 60 mcg Armour and had me start taking Adreset by Metagenics (it is for

adrenal

support and contains panax ginseng, cordyceps and rhodiola). She also has me

taking

DGL licorice and PS100 (phosphatidylserine). I felt a little better for a few

weeks and now

I'm feeling crummy again. At my last consult with her, she added 5 mg of

Cytomel in the

afternoons to try and fight the afternoon dip in energy (so far, this isn't

making a huge

difference). My vitamin D was low, so she also put me on 3,000 Vitamin D3

(again, not

much difference yet). She mentioned I may do better on time-release for my

thyroid, but

we're not trying that yet. Sometimes, it seems that the T3 in the Armour is

making me

edgy and impatient...is this common or is my body in the process of adjusting?

I do trust

this new doc, but wanted to see if I'm on the right track.

In November, my new doc measured:

DHEA sulfate - 174 UG/DL (range 35 - 430)

Reverse T3 - 251 pg/mL (range 90 - 350) - She said that 251 was elevated.

Adrenocortex Stress Profile (Saliva):

Cortisol 1 hour after rising - 0.49 mcg/dL (range 0.27 - 1.18)

Cortisol between 11 and 1 - 0.23 mcg/dL (range 0.10 - 0.41)

*Cortisol between 3 and 5 - 0.13 mcg/dL (range 0.05 - 0.27)

Cortisol between 10 and midnight - <0.03 (range 0.03 - 0.14)

DHEA 7 - 9 a.m. - 74 pg/mL (range 71 - 640)

DHEA Cortisol Ratio/10,000 - 151 (range 115 - 1,188)

*After giving the 2nd sample, I fell asleep for about 2 hours, then I was

awake for 1

hour before giving the 3rd sample...would the nap affect the results??

Here are the latest labs my new doc used in December:

FT4 - 0.6 ng/dL (range 0.6 - 1.6)

TSH - 0.16 uIU/mL (range 0.30 - 5.00)

FT3 - 3.33 pg/mL (range 2.30 - 4.20)

Vit D 25-OH TOT - 31 ng/mL (range 20 - 100)

Vit D 25-OH D3 - 31 ng/mL

Vit D 25-OH D2 - <4f ng/mL

Again, sorry to make this so long, but any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Jodi

I'm still just learning myself, but it seems to me you've found a

great doctor! She's recommending the things that I am doing or want

to do, but I haven't found a doctor who will help me -- count

yourself lucky there! (I don't suppose you live near me (Los Angeles

area), do you?)
