Guest guest
It is not harmful the change in stool color, I would up the dose again. Lower doses do not work. You need to have ferritin between 70 & 90 for good thyroid use. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/
Guest guest
Since I'm taking two poly iron (300mg) a day and my ferritin went down instead of up (from 36 to 33), would it hurt to take 3? Could this be the reason for my fast HR? Re: Low Ferritin Level It is not harmful the change in stool color, I would up the dose again. Lower doses do not work. Guest guest
Val, I have started taking 200mg iron but wanted to know what is the best brand and how to take it for maximum effectiveness? I am currently taking 50mg four times a day empty stomach along with 500mg vitamin C as I have read that vitamin C increases iron absorption. Your guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks > > >>Since I'm taking two poly iron (300mg) a day and my ferritin went down instead of up (from 36 to 33), would it hurt to take 3? > Could this be the reason for my fast HR? << > > Yes it can be a cuase of a fast pulse. Guest guest
Hi, I'm not Val, but here is a repost from Missy at the NTH listserv. I take my iron with fresh squeezed OJ when I can afford the oranges. from Missy: You might switch to a different kind of iron..I took ferrous fumarate the first time (TwinLabs brand Iron Caps, 10 caps daily) and I now take Source Naturals Advanced Ferrochel (ferrous bisglycinate). And neither of these have any extra vitamins so they are cheaper. I never had a problem with them, but I don't have IBS. It is best to take plenty of vitamin C with your iron, 3000-4000 mg daily isn't too much. I don't know if IBS makes it tough to tolerate vitamin C..hopefully not. Start with maybe 2000 mg of vitamin C and increase until you are taking more. I have also read that you can take it to " bowel tolerance " and then back down 500 or 1000 mg. That means until you get diarrhea. B-Complex, yogurt or kefir, probiotics, magnesium are all things you can take to help with the constipation. And of course drink plenty of water and increase fiber if that is possible. I would recheck every 3 months or so if you can. Most can't do it that often, so I would check at 3 months if possible then figure out how fast that ferritin is moving and then you can figure out how long it will take to get it to over 70. It took me 14 weeks to move my ferritin up 40 points. But everyone is different. Hope this helps, Missy Re: Low Ferritin Level Val, I have started taking 200mg iron but wanted to know what is the best brand and how to take it for maximum effectiveness?
