Guest guest
>>>On the left side of my neck, down pretty low, almost just before my collar bone is a huge raised lump, feels soft, but it is about four inches long and about an inch and 1/2 across. When I visited my Rheumatologist in May, he looked at it for one minute, touched it, and told me that it was fluid filled and was not disease related. But here it is, weeks later, and it is still there. Sometimes larger or more pronounced than other times, but none the less still there, and only on the one side. Anyone have any ideas?<<< Hi Gail....just some possible things to consider from a fellow APer.... A while back, I was reading up on the adrenals. Apparently one of the symptoms of adrenal imbalance can be the deposit of fatty tissue around the collar bone. To rule it out, you could have your adrenals checked. Another possibility, though your lumpy bit seems a bit bigger than this...thyroid...possibly nodules/goiter? Have you had your thyroid examined with bloodwork recently? Benign fatty lumps - lipomas - can pretty much come up anywhere on the body, but it's always worth getting them double-checked by your GP. The larger question here is are these things truly herxes or just coincidental adjuncts? My own personal feeling is that these pathogens can pretty much invade anywhere in the body and, similar to the nodules people get with RA, it's quite possible that the pathogens would encapsulate themselves in little pockets in any place within the body to protect themselves....or the body encapsulates 'them' in an effort to inhibit their spread? In any case, it's worth getting your lump checked out further, if only for your own peace of mind. All the best! Peace, Maz Lyme/RA
Guest guest
Hi, Gail! This didn't strike a chord with me until I read Maz's reply. I had forgotten about my husband pointing out lumps on my collarbone area to my GP about a year ago. He said the same thing yours said, and I promptly forgot about them. LOL I'll have to look later and see if they are still there! Blessings! Terri
