I live in Northern New Mexico. The rheumatologist I go to is in Santa Fe. He

is on lists that I have received as a doctor in NM who will prescribe

antibiotics. As I said in the post I sent today he reluctantly prescribes them

and doesn't believe in AP. I know of rheumy in Albuquerque that will use

antibiotics that I am planning to make an appointment with. But I am looking for

other options as well.

I have seen lists on this site and roadback for doctors in AZ and in Colorado

Springs, Co. Has anyone on the list gone to any of them and does anyone know if

they are good and really use AP in depth or just are willing to prescribe

minocycline. Also wondering about TX. I am also considering going to Iowa to

see Dr. Sinnot.

Dolores, I thank you for your response and am grateful for your feedback.

I have been on this list for a few years and although I haven't posted

recently, I have been lurking. I enjoy all the comments, find them very helpful

and have told many others about this list.

I was diagnosed with RA about five years ago. It was diagnosed when a thumb

tendon ruptured. A year later the thumb tendon on my other hand ruptured. I had

three operations on my wrist in about a year.

My rheumy put me on methotrexate which I didn't really want and caused

problems with my liver. He then gave me minocin reluctantly and after a lot of

pushing for it on my part. He doesn't believe in the mycoplasma theory. I was on

minocin until the price increase when Triax purchased it. I switched to

minocycline which seemed to work just fine, but then went on doxcy when I

started to get hyperpigmentation. I have done well on the antibiotics much to

the surprise of the doctor. However, for a year I have had swelling in my wrist.

An MRI shows a lot synovial fluid and was said to be moderate to severe. I am

concerned about another tendon rupture. My rheumy said the only thing that would

get rid of the fluid/inflammation is orencia or enbrel or arava and plaquinil

together. He also said I could try methotrexate again as he thinks the liver

problem was really due to other things contributing to it at the time and now I

could tolerate it!

I do not want to take any of these heavy duty meds if at all possible, but I

want to be rid of this fluid and inflammation. I would really appreciate

suggestions, as I am in a quandary.

I am in the process of trying to find another doctor to go to. I have never

been happy with him but at least he would prescribe mino.

Any feedback would be very much appreciated.

Hi ,  You are welcome and good luck in your search.  I don't have a good doc

since I moved to Corpus Christi.  But I am so well read re: S/D which is what I

have along with R/A and possibly MCTD is what Dr. W. in NY said, that I can walk

into any office and bully the doctor who won't give me my life saving medicine.

I also have to fight for my tests.  I am lucky I made copies of all my prior

tests.  The docs then don't feel so intimidated by my insistence on curing me my

way when they see info from prior docs who did it. And after three years, I am

standing in front of them looking great and feeling good with no outward sign of

S/D that if they hadn't seen the the test results and notes from other docs,

they wouldn't believe me.  But one look at my lungs and they can see the

fibrosis and they know I am not kidding. So, I get my meds and tests.  But I

have to fight for them.  Anyway, -Good luck finding a good A/P doc.  They

are few

and far between.  Dolores & Mike

Hi , I have been lurking in the background and felt I must reply. I have

had RA for 30+ years. AP worked for me for 10 years, but disease has

progressed. I have found that cod liver oil has taken away my inflammation.

(Study done in Europe) Hope this will help you as it has me. Regards, Kay
