Hi & All,

My readings are now 180 which is up from the

150 that has been normal for me. When I catch

a cold the congestion keeps me from being able

to move the marker at all. The bottom reading on

my gage is 75 so my peak flow is below that when

I am congested. What are your readings? Do

you have the same gage?

Lyle,

I've got my meter up to a little over 200 once. LOL The rest of the times

I've tried, it's ever been 200 or below.

Mine is called Personal Best.

I called Angie yesterday afternoon and was telling her that if that thing

didn't have the vents in the top of it, I could really blow that sucker. LOL

Heippa , Lyle & All,

>In your message you mention 120. Is that

120 liters/min like my meter.

Yes. (1 US gallon = 3,78 liters)

>When I have a

cold and my readings get down to 120 and

below I have difficulty walking on the level for

more than a minute and one flight of stairs

leaves me gasping for breath. Do you have

similar experiences.

It´s the same with me.

>At 170 which is my

current level I can walk slowly continuously.

If I try to keep up with my wife by walking

fast I still run out of air. If some congestion

clogs the bronchial tubes on the left side I

will suddenly be gasping for breath even when

at rest until I cough up the congestion.

Almost the same again. When there´s no mucus " in the traffic " , I can walk

quite long distances, specially when taking off the speaking valve (of my

trach tube), but then it´s not easy to communicate.

My readings are 80 -120, the scale begins from 60. So my readings are not

very accurate and I have considered buying a meter for children, beginning

from 30. When having flue/inflammation I´m not able to move the marker at

all, too.

Lyle and Arto,

Do you have trouble breathing from doing nothing at all? Even when your

reading are good is this a problem? Do you have more trouble breathing

after you eat?

Just trying to understand this lung thing.

Thanks,

> Lyle and Arto,

> Do you have trouble breathing from doing nothing at all?

Only when having some respitory infl. or when some extra mucus is coming up.

> Even when your

> reading are good is this a problem?

At the moment my reading would probably be less good.

> Do you have more trouble breathing

> after you eat?

Again depending on mucus, it begins to come up quite often, when eating.

(Bon apetit!)

> Just trying to understand this lung thing.

It´s very confusing to realize, that you won´t run 100 meters under 10 seconds

anymore.

....Or even under 11 seconds - I´ll go to new respitory function tests next

week.

Don´t hesitate to ask more dirty details, if it helps.

Heippa Arto,

Are you getting sick again? You said your reading would probably be less

right now, so what does that mean? Are you having a flare? Let me know what

your PFT results are when you get them, OK? I'll show you mine if you show

me yours. LOLOL

Do you ever have a dry cough??? Nothing will come up??? (Sorry everyone,

hope no one is eating while reading their mail)

Thanks Arto for all the info and I will ask more as I think of more

questions to ask.

Voi Hyvin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heippa !

> >Are you getting sick again?

I didn´t feel it then, but now I´ve got some virus or flu which means still more

mucus and possibly antibiotics.

> >You said your reading would probably be less

> right now, so what does that mean?

I just feel it, and every time there has been some downhill from test to test.

> >Are you having a flare?

A minor flare all the time, nothing special.

OK, after next Thursday.

> >Do you ever have a dry cough??? Nothing will come up???

Because of the trach tube, my cough is quite different from " normal " and due to

mucus.

> ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz

Hyvää yötä!
