Guest guest
Kim I would like to see some of those studies because plaquanil does not even work sometimes for Lupus. As far as I know no one stays on plaquenil after starting AP or at least after they feel better. I would never stay on a drug that can possible hurt my vision even when there is frequent testing. Luck to you. cooky From: rheumatic [mailto:rheumatic ] On Behalf Of musherkim Sent: Sunday, April 05, 2009 4:59 PM rheumatic Subject: rheumatic lupus and plaquanil Hello everyone. I recently went through the IV antibiotic tx and take minocyline 3 times a week. I received the treatment due to Lupus. My question would be, studies are showing the plaquanil protecs organs in the long run but what about in conjunction with the IV treatment. I see most docs stop meds like methotrex. but nothing is ever said about this commonly used med for Lupus. I have been trying to find research on this subject. Thanks for any info. kim
Guest guest
I was on Plaquenil for about 8 years and had no problems with it at all. If you have regular eye examinations (every 6 months) you will be ok as any eye problems are completely reversible once you stop the Plaquenil. love rheumatic lupus and plaquanil Hello everyone. Guest guest
When I first got diagnosed with Scleroderma in 2005, I was placed on Plaquenil for muscle inflammation. A month later I started A/P and was told I should get off it. I did have an extensive eye exam when I started just so the doctor would have a base for comparison later on. I stopped immediately upon starting A/P and never needed it again. Guest guest
I've been off Plaquenil now for a couple of years. In the interim I have tried Cyclosporin, Azathioprine, Humira, Enbrel and Sulfasalazine. I've also had MTX tablets and injections. I'm now part of a world wide study into a new drug. I'm hoping that it works. love rheumatic lupus and plaquanil Hello everyone. I recently went through the IV antibiotic tx and take minocyline 3 times a week. I received the treatment due to Lupus.
