Too many major stressors. They say that moving house is second in

stress levels only to death and divorce. I didn't just move house, I

moved from country to country 3 times in two years. My mother's

death tipped me over the edge followed closely by losing my job at age

50, followed by menopause

Genetics - born with a Driver/Type A personality. Also believed the

" you CAN have it all "

theory for too long and pushed myself to get it. Never took good

care of myself. Ended up

with pneumonia while pregnant with 5th child. That pushed me over

the edge to very low

energy.

Mine is RAI, t4 generic synthroid treatment for only 1 year, then began

to show symptoms. I didn't find out thats what is was until I was on

the synthroid for 3 years, and in stage 4 AF. Arg!

Working nights for 12 years in a hospital. After getting married adding

3 babies to our family in 18 months (oldest & youngest were adopted) and

caring for a very disabled foster child at the same time. STRESS OUT THE

WAZOOO!

But you know, I wonder. If I had ever learned how to play... I mean have

fun, take breaks from real life just to laugh and enjoy being... maybe I

could have handled stress better. I don't know.

In analyzing my life..I believe I was hypothyroid as a kid. Being

unDx throughout my adulthood didn't help my adrenals. However, I

think the kicker for me, when I REALLY ever noticed a problem was

after (in a " WHAT WAS I THINKING " moment) getting the Hep. B

immunizations because I let my guard down letting a co-worker

convince me I needed it b/c of my potential exposure to Hep. B.

The other most important factor to my adrenal fatigue was taking

weight loss supplements.

The weight loss supplements I was taking did help me lose weight...by

stimulating my adrenals! OH my POOR adrenals. I'm surprised I

didn't totally burn them out. My adrenals were sending me signals,

but back then I didn't know THATs what that was!!!

Yes stress, lack of proper sleep...all contributed, but I believe the

things mentioned above did the deed.

Sleep apnea and hypothyroidism and heavy metal poisoning. And no one believed me

about not feeling well and being severely sleep deprived and blamed it on

Freudian stuff. That and having an autistic mother and a father in denial about

the whole situation.

Since I never used T4 meds of any kind until I tried dessicated thyroid

early last year, I can't ascribe my adrenal fatigue to that. I did find

out I had adrenal fatigue because I could not titrate up to a decent

dose of thyroid without 'crashing'.

I've thought about my history, and there are several 'somthings' that

might account for my low cortisol, and in combination they certainly

could. But no one thing I can identify alone with real certainty. I have

speculation only.
