Thank you Harald, Diane, Arshad & anyone else who took the time to share this

with us.  You do a great service.  At the moment I am experiencing a lot of pain

in my right hip and some pain in my left.  This is a new symptom I have never

experienced before.  I hesitate going back to the hospital as I have been

scanned from head to toe and if I wait it out, hopefully these symptoms like

others in the past have disappeared with A/P therapy.  Putting my right foot on

the ground to take a step is agony.  This started suddenly last Friday. I got

out of a chair to walk across the floor and Wham!  This pain came up out of the

blue.  I have not experienced pain in a very long time and am wondering if

discontinuing the Benicar on the Marshall had anything to do with this.  I am in

the third phase taking three antibiotics.  Anyone else on Marshall or anyone who

has done the Marshall ever experience this?  Till now, I have been pain free

since 2006.

Appreciate any and all suggestions.  Normally, I stay away from pain meds, but

this past week I had to resort to taking them for a few days.  The rest of the

time, I soak in the hot tub or just try to get into a pain free position on my

lounge chair or lay down.  Would like to resume normal life quickly as I have a

trip to Puerto Rico planned for next month.  Dolores & Mike

Hi Diane,  I want to read this article, but when I click on it, it says Internet

will not display this page. Is there any other way to send it or open it.  Am

quite anxious to read anything that will spread the word that these diseases are

of Infectious Origin.  Thanks Dolores & Mike

Hello to All:

Attached is a link to an interesting article which may be of interest to

some/all of you, although the testing so far was done in mice. This is does not

mean the results will be the same for humans but it is a start and hopefully

will lead to bringing Dr. Brown's A/P as the standard treatment protocol.

All I ever heard from my ex-rheumy was " we DON'T KNOW what causes rheumatoid

arthritis -- it's 'autoimmune' . (medical double speak) Well, those of you on AP

know Drs. Brown and Scammell knew the cause but was never able to get the AMA

nor fellow rheumys to listen.

Bad Mix Of Bacterial Remnants And Genetics Leads To Arthritis02 Apr 2009

Here's another reason to hate leftovers. A research study appearing in the April

2009 issue of theJournal of Leukocyte Biology sheds light on one cause of

arthritis: bacteria. In the study, scientists from the United States and The

Netherlands show that a specific gene called NOD2 triggers arthritis or makes it

worse when leftover remnants of bacteria cell walls, called muramyl dipeptide or

MDP, are present. This discovery offers an important first step toward new

treatments to prevent or lessen the symptoms of inflammatory arthritis.

" Despite recent advances in the treatment of arthritis, none target its cause, "

said Davey, Associate Chief of Staff for Research at the Portland Oregon

Veteran's Affairs Medical Center and one of the researchers involved in the

study. " Our work with MDP and NOD2 is a step toward understanding the root cause

of arthritis which one day may allow certain forms of arthritis to be prevented

altogether. "

Davey and colleagues made this discovery through experiments using two groups of

mice, one group was normal and the other had been genetically modified so that

their NOD2 gene was deactivated (commonly referred to as " knocked out " ). Then

they administered MDP to the joints of mice in each group, and unlike the normal

group of mice, the mice with the deactivated NOD2 gene did not experience signs

of arthritis. This may also be an important advance in the understanding and

treatment of Blau Syndrome, a rare genetic disease characterized by

granulomatous arthritis (arthritis caused by bacteria), uveitis (inflammation in

the middle layer of the eye), skin rash and cranial neuropathy (a disorder

affecting nerves that control sight, eye movement, hearing, and taste).

" Now that we know that bacterial products can activate this NOD2 pathway and

that this signal contributes to arthritis, " said Wherry, Ph.D., Deputy

Editor of the Journal of Leukocyte Biology, " the next step is to find treatments

that either rid the body of this inflammatory signal or mask it. Either way, the

net effect would be the same: people would be spared from a very crippling

disease. "

According to the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention more that 40

million American say that they have been told by a doctor that they have

arthritis or another rheumatic condition. Arthritis is the most common cause of

disability in the United States and limits activities of nearly 19 million

people.

The Journal of Leukocyte Biology publishes peer-reviewed manuscripts on original

investigations focusing on the cellular and molecular biology of leukocytes and

on the origins, the developmental biology, biochemistry and functions of

granulocytes, lymphocytes, mononuclear phagocytes and other cells involved in

host defense and inflammation. The Journal of Leukocyte Biology is published by

the Society for Leukocyte Biology.

Hello Diane,  Thank you so much for the article.  This time it came in totally

opened and ready to read.  I read it through once and now will save it to may

files.  Will also copy it and take it to my Infectious Disease Doc on my next

visit.  I believe that someday, these disease will be a thing of the past much

like polio and other childhood diseases we have wiped out.  Thank you so very

much.  Dolores & Mike

Upon getting my RA, I was on a very good product called Stem Tech, 4 bottles

month for 6 months. It is doing amazing things for people, especially with

AI......but not for me or did I stop too soon???? That's the tricky and

difficult part about supp, or anything we're doing. Personally, I get very very

tired of taking so many supps/wonder if they are doing anything....and the $$$.

Man, this is not an easy journey....Sally
