When they invent a jog that doesn't make you break a sweat, I MAY consider it.

Re: day 25---I did it!!!!!

That is César's problem....but I have been swimming since I was a kid, and competed from 12 yrs throughout high school (oh so many moons ago LOL), so I learned how to do it...I hope it will help with my walking and get me jogging. I get out of breath when I try that.

wow, i could never swim non stop for thirty minutes. I would die from lack of oxygen as I can't breathe and swim at the same time.

Whooooeeeeeeee....30 non-stop minutes swim-mill (get it, swim-mill, treadmill??Please visit our homepage at http://members.xoom.com/AChallengersYou will find information, recipes, before and after pictures. To contact any of the the list moderators, you can email them at:Joya (joya7@...), Kari (kari@...), Norma (norwood@...), JJ (cybercat@...), Dianne (lambert1@...) No no no....that is what César does and he nearly drowns from all the water being splashed in his face LOL...well what I do is four strokes head in the water and come up (face sideways) on the fourth and take a breath. You can also do it every stroke, but that is more tiring...I like breathing all the bubbles out on counts 2 and 3...very relaxing, like meditating.

how can u not breathe and swim?? keep your head out of the water..

NOw see if you were coming to Honduras instead of Nova Scotia I could put you on the rope and give you lessons LOL. Maybe you can practice in Norma's pond with all the fishies helping you out.

Well I do keep my head out as I can't do it the right way. But keeping your head out is extremely tiring so I can't swim any distance at all really.

The best way to jog is to alternate walking and jogging, slowly building up the jogging and cutting down the walking. I took a course in it at work and that is how they taught us.

hmm well all this makes no sense to me i do the breast stroke and come up for air after every one or the side stroke where your head is always out... the crawl is too tiring for me if i do the breathing so i just keep my head out on that one.. but we are not racing here we are getting exercise it should not be so techinical .... it doesnt matter really how you do things as long as u get the exercise in.. splash away or even hang on the side and just do kicks if u want

well what's the difference between the breast stroke and the crawl anyway? Is the crawl a doggy paddle?

crawl is arm over arm over kinda like a wind mill with a flutter kick you turn your head to the side to breathe and you reach out and pull down with each arm breast stroke you push both arms together thru the water out in front of you like you were diving. then pull apart and to the side you bring your head up as you pull back this uses a frog kick i could do this stroke for hours without getting tired..

well believe it or not I took swimming lessons as a kid. I just could never get the breathing right and got water in my nose and I can't stand water in my nose. Nope, swimming is not my sport at all. Hey I even took scuba diving class when I was about twenty. I passed too, but never did the check out dive in real water. I was too scared to do that. My dad taught it and he and his friends who taught with him gave me a real hard time in the course too. they made me do things twice as many times as everyone else just to tease me or to prove they weren't playing favorites or something. It was awful really.
