Guest guest
Nifty! I ran some searches on NY Times but couldn't find anything on this subject that was dated 2010. Would love to see a link if you find it. A few I did find: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/29/magazine/29wwln-essay-t.html?_r=1 & ref=magazine (June 2008) http://www.nytimes.com/1999/08/31/health/in-pursuit-of-autoimmune-worm-cure.html (August 2009) Interested to hear an update on how this sort of research is going if that's what your friend read, Debbie! Guest guest
Sorry, typo: that second article was 1999, not 2009. On Sat, Jun 5, 2010 at 10:36 AM, Appleton <superbecc@...>wrote: > Nifty! Guest guest
I read up on this a bit earlier this spring. Here are a few links http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/01/health/research/01prof.html Jasper Lawrence is an allergy sufferer who tool his own treatment into his own hands http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/discoblog/2009/07/22/are-hookworms-the-nex t-claritin/ He was selling heminths in the US, but left the country because the FDA was about to shut him down. US residents cannot legally buy his products, or couldnĀ¹t when I read the information legally, but he was in business in Mexico at that point. http://autoimmunetherapies.com/ His story is covered in Act III of a This American Life earlier this spring, but they had run the same story a couple of years ago http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/404/enemy-camp-2010 On 6/4/10 1:04 PM, " DEBBIE GIBSON " <Debbullwinkle@...> wrote: > My friend just called me about the NY Times article recently on autoimmune > disease and parasites...I am going to google it myself...but she said that it > was concerning 3rd world countries where Autoimmune diseases are unheard > of..and supposedly the reason given is because most of the population have > parasites...hookworms, etc...Apparently, it is the newest thing...and the > study showed good results..I had not heard of it but wanted to mention it here > so everyone can ck it out...Once I find it I intend to email it to my long > time rheumy, DR.
