Guest guest
It was probably anterior and not arthroscopic..... The only thing that they can do in arthroscopy is remodel the existing joint - and it aint' fun to recover from. Been there, but was one of the people it didn't work for. Have direct anterior THR scheduled in a couple weeks. Here is an explanation (and note - it is faster, but not always as fast as some stories. one of my buddies was off all walking aids and in the office after 3 weeks, lady on another board is just now up to 1/2 mile on the bike or treadmill at 5 weeks). http://www.newhipnews.com/ You want a Dr. who's done a LOT of these if you get one.... > > Hi Jujulabee, > I know that there are several approaches to total hip replacement surgery. > I have heard of a type of " arthroscopic hip replacement " , founded by a > doctor in England. What exactly is the " anterior " > hip surgery you had? Guest guest
Sally, my father-in-law (age 75) just had this done 6 or 8 weeks ago. Several years ago ,he had the other hip replaced the traditional way. This time he used the less invasive procedure. He has done very well! He's had less pain and was up and about quicker. Didn't have to have someone come to the home to do exercises, etc. He was just given the clear to do anything but water ski (which they told him he never could do again). They also said every time he has any kind of dental procedure done (even if just a cleaning), he must take antibiotics for a couple days. --Celia <><
