Guest guest
Yup, I'd say stick with him since he knows about the adrenals and thyroid. You may feel like a new woman when you start sleeping with the C-PAP sleep apnea and thyroid/adrenal problems Well, I did the sleep study last week that my new doctor wanted me to do. He says that I do have some mild apnea and wants me to go back for a second night with a cpap machine. Apparently I do snore. You just have to tape a microphone on my throat to pick it up. I don't stop breathing, but the air flow in and out isn't even. He feels that the apnea is what has caused my adrenals to become fatigued and if we treat the apnea along with the adrenals, they have a good chance to heal. He is also open to keeping track of my thyroid levels in case they change with the adrenal treatment. Personally, I would prefer to treat my adrenals and thyroid for a while and see if that helps the apnea. Has anyone else here had mild apnea clear up when these were treated? The biggest problem I have right now is that this guy is primarily a sleep doctor. He's the only one I've found that seems to have even half a clue about adrenals and thyroid. Should I just go along with the cpap machine so he'll keep treating me for the rest, or ask him to wait on it? Thanks in advance!
Guest guest
I do not think that you can fix sleep apnea with thyroid & adrenal treatment. You may be able to help very mild sleep apnea if you are overweight & get that under control. For more severe SA even weight loss did not help my hubby. I DO believe that sleep apnea was the cause of his adrenal fatigue. But his SA is pretty bad, not what you would ever call mild. It sounds as if you have a good Dr, what do you have to lose by giving this a try? Gale > > Well, I did the sleep study last week that my new doctor wanted me to do. Guest guest
Cheri, I have been diagnosed with mild sleep apnea or actually hypopnea which means that I come up to consciousness too many times during the night. I have been resisting the second study with the cpap. But, your doctor's statement below makes alot of sense. Rest is important for adrenal recovery and you dont get good rest if you dont get good sleep. So maybe I should relent and go for the cpap test. Guest guest
Alright, I'll go back, but I won't be happy about it! I so do not want a CPAP machine. I could have sworn I saw posts from people who had MILD apnea problems resolved with proper treatment of their thyroid and/or adrenal problems. So I thought I'd try that first. I DID tell my new doc that I didn't care what was wrong with me, I just wanted to find out and fix it. Grumble, grumble, grumble.... I looked like a vampire had attacked me for almost a week after this last test from where the mic was taped to my throat. It HURT! You should go back as well, . Maybe it is another part of the puzzle even if I don't want it to be... Guest guest
Yeah, I know I should go back. And I might. But, I actually think that mine has gotten better. It is just the falling asleep that is giving me problems right now and I think that is mostly mental. You know, you lie there wondering " is this it? am I drifting off? " So ridiculous, like a watched pot never boils. English > > Alright, I'll go back, but I won't be happy about it! I so do not want a > CPAP machine. Guest guest
There's also a special new pillow that's been made for people with " mild " sleep apnea that is being touted very successful. You'd need to google sleep apnea pillows I guess to find it. RE: Re: sleep apnea and thyroid/adrenal problems Alright, I'll go back, but I won't be happy about it! I so do not want a CPAP machine. Guest guest
Cool, I'll have to look that up!
