Guest guest
Not only do goats seek out non-grass forages, they just don't like eating at ground level. If left to their own preferences, goats like bushes and vines such as greenbriar and kudzu. They will even stand on their hind feet in order to eat leaves from trees. They will strip and eat bark from trees before eating grass. If contained in an area that contains both grass and trees they will completely destroy a forest (literally kill the trees) before eating grass. If contained to an area where they can only graze, yes, they will succumb. It's certainly their last choice. The exception to this rule is Angora goats of which I have several. They seem to be more like sheep in that that don't destroy trees and seem content to graze. Carmen <<<<<< I've been told by one goat farmer that grass (ie grazing) isn't as good for goats because they are " browsers " rather than " grazers " -- meaning that they naturally seek out non-grass forages >>>>>>>>>>
