Guest guest
eson, You state that brand name Minocin would require a co-pay of $45 per month if approved... If you purchased brand name Minocin in Canada from www.federaldrugs.com, cost would be $146.77 for one hundred 100-mg capsules with free shipping to the U.S. If you take one 100 mg capsule every MWF, this comes to 13 capsules/month x $1.4677/capsule = $19.01/month. If you take two 100 mg capsules every MWF, this comes to 26 capsules/month x $1.4677/ capsule = $38.16/month. In other words, purchasing from Canada is less expensive than your insurance co-pay of $45 per month. For more information on Canadian Minocin, please see my web page http://www.tmgp.com/minocin.htm I just placed my first order for Canadian Minocin from www.federaldrugs.com on January 20. Guest guest
Hi Dolores, I was just going to email the Canada info on the Minocin (brand name, pelletized) and I see that Harold already has. All I can say was that 2 yrs ago when my husband retired and we went on Medicare plus the supplement, I began purchasing them from Canada. Never had a problem and as Harold mentioned, it's free S & H. Just to be sure, I always break one capsule and they've always been correct. For the price they go a very very long way, especially if you take one M/W/F which I do and many of our group do. Good luck with all of that and hope you feel well Dolores! Your " doggie story " made me all teary.....our family is all dog lovers and that was precious. After our Mandy passed (16 yrs old), we rescued Abby just 2 yrs ago and she's absolutely the best! We are totally in love with her. (and she us....lol) take care, Judy In a message dated 1/24/2011 4:04:33 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, martysfolks2004@... writes: That makes sense. Guest guest
Hello Dolores, It sounds hopeful that you can get your minocin from Canada, and fairly quickly. What a " team " we have on this site.....someone always has an answer or help for our many predicaments. Thank you everyone! It's somewhat sad for me to see your blood work change so quickly after not being on AP for such a short time. Even in remission, it seems like we will always be living with these diseases in some way or another. So after many years on AP, those nasty micro organisms still live in the body. So I see how important it is to live one day at a time, with gratitude and joy...and extremely challenging to do so! So, here we grow again.............sally Re: rheumatic Antibiotic Protocol works and I have the labs to prove it Hi all, It seems like the Big Pharm people have been able to sell more of the generic minocycline because the price of brand only was so prohibitive that now they are not manufacturing Brand Minocin like they used to, making it scarce and more expensive for people like me who insist on it. I was promise by my insurance company that they would pay for the drug with a co-pay of S45.00/month from me,but first it must be approved by the pharmacy dept of the comany. So, Monday I must bring proof (and Thank god I saved every scrap of paper showing that all my docs have ordered the brand only for the past 5 years). I will also be faxing them a copy of the Faq sheet on the Antibiotic Protocol to them so they know why I am on Minocin for such an extended period of time. I have also handed both my cardiologist and gastroenterologist a copy of the Faq sheets, so they can get in on this infrormation. I was given authority to pick up a 30 day supply.. For that, we had to call about 12 pharmacies. Finally found that it could be available through CVS. Would you all believe that there is not one single Minocin pill on the entire Island of Puerto Rico nor (I was told by the pharmacist that she called every CVS pharmacy in Florida and they had none either) She is working on getting it direct from any supplier in the USA. So, I still do not have the minocin, but have started myself back on oral Clindamycin and Azythromycin.on odd days. I have been off my minocin since November and my latested blood work shows that my ANA & RF #'s are rising again. Slowly, but surely, my remission seems to be disappearing and I can't do a thing about it until I get my Minocin back. I am hoping that by this coming week, they will find a supplier in the U.S.who will ship it to Puerto Rico. So far, none of my symprtoms have returned, but I am starting to feel cooler in the morning and evenings. I noticed that even in 72 degree weather, that I still have to put a sweater on. I have not had any other symptoms, but am aware that they can come back and am hoping for the best as soon as possible. I ask all of you to put me on your prayer lists that a company will be found who will mail me the Minocin every 90 days. That is what the Insurance and my pharmacy are working on now. I have come such a long way and have been in remission almost two years. I do not want to go backwards, but it looks like I will be on full dose again at least until all blood work is back down to normal. Thank you all for the prayers and wishes. Will stay in touch. My best to all, Dolores & Mike > > yes, you pay for it yourself. Guest guest
Yes, I started getting low in October. I thought that by taking it on MWF, I would be okay and I was for a while, Then I cut the dose in half to 50 mg, then I went from twice a day to once a day. I guess I just made too many cuts within a short time until I finally ran out. My doc ordered minocycline, (not brand, as I wanted and that is what made me sick. so, I stopped taking Minocin altogether and within a couple of months, I could tell that things were beginning to change. I had a terrible reaction to the minocycline. I have no idea what fillers they use, but after being on the Brand only for 5 years, it nearly killed me. I had to practically live in the bathroom for days. I am now sharing my husbands doxy and found some Azith which I take once or twice a week and hope that will hold me till I can get my hands on the brand only Mino again. I'm sure I will be getting some soon. thank you for your concern and all those wonderful suggestions. This is a great site with great people. Thank you, Dolores & Mike > > yes, you pay for it yourself. Guest guest
Thanks Eva, the story I am hearing around here is that Triax has stopped making it. Don't know if that is true or just an excuse for them to stop looking for a distributor. Dolores & Mike From: eson@... <eson@...> Subject: rheumatic Re: Antibiotic Protocol works and I have the labs to prove it rheumatic Date: Sunday, January 23, 2011, 3:39 PM  Dolores, Can't you order it from Canada? Guest guest
Hi Judy. I think that taking care of an animal is also a very healthy thing to do. Not only for the animal, but for the person. We just adopted Chaco. He is an older dog who was not wanted for reasons I didn't ask. One look and we were in love all over again.. He is a cute little sheltie and you can see that he really appreciates being loved, fed and cared for. with some mino, I will be back in remission very soon. Just stroking the dog is a healing action. Take care, My best to all, Dolores & Mike > >Hi all, >It seems like the Big Pharm people have been able to sell more of >the generic minocycline because the price of brand only was so >prohibitive that now they are not manufacturing Brand Minocin like >they used to, making it scarce and more expensive for people like me >who insist on it. Guest guest
I have a paper for triax that will help me get it cheaper from the company. I'm going to look for that paper. I once e:mailed it to Sohelia, but in those days I had no problems getting the edication. Now, here is Puerto Rico, I find it difficult. Most people and that means the medical community have never even heard of Sclerododerma. They have heard of Lupus. But do not have a clue as to what I am talking about even though I pass the Faq sheet around to them in Spanish. I don't think they are even reading it or they don't have time. These doctors see 70 or 80 or more patients a day. It must be like socialized medicine here. You arrive at the doctors office at 8a.m. and get on a list. Sometimes you may get in before noon or come back after lunch and maybe get in before 3p.m. or 4p.m or 5p.m. sometime it is dark when we finally get done.  That is the norm here. A doctor's appointment here takes up an entire day of waiting. I started my physical in November and am still not done. Most times, you need to wait a month for an open date. but no special time is allotted to you. You are seen in the order you come. By 10a.m. they cut off any more people and there is a line down the hallway by that time. People start lining up around 6 a,m to 7 am. I ususally find a corner where I can just fall a sleep untill they call me.I must get up in a few hours to make my appt. in the morning. Ugf!~~~~Dolores & Mike    From: Zannie <zannie68@...> Subject: rheumatic Re: Antibiotic Protocol works and I have the labs to prove it rheumatic Date: Wednesday, January 26, 2011, 12:31 PM  Triax still makes the brand name minocin. Guest guest
Wow Dolores. I don’t think I like socialized medicine! I get upset and won’t go back to a doctor if I have to wait any longer than 20 minutes. Long ago I waited 4 hours to see a rheumy and I never went back. Guest guest
Hi Everybody. Island living takes gettting used to. It took me a while back in the eighties when I lived in Hawaii. Especiallly coming from NYC where I was born and where I lived for thirteeen years before coming down here to Puerto Rico. I have always been used to the hustle & bustle and When I got here, I needed to develop patience.  Like when you are at the super market and the cashier is in this long conversation with the customer before you. They are speaking spanish at a very rapid rate, so I am not bothering to listen, I just stand there. At first it annoyed me, but now I expect it. Puertoricans are very nice, loving , caring people. Nobody is in a hurry to go anywhere and comfrotable to be just where they are. They tend to live in the moment rather than be racing off to the next place.  It seems to make sense after you live here a while. It is an Island and when you get to where you are going, you will eventually turn around and end up back where you started from. Nobody has reason to rush. It is strange to see a hundred people waiting to see a doctor, but they all seem to strike up conversations and socialize with each other. It almost turns into a party. The doctor will also take all the time he/she needs with you. I never feel rushed. Only when I rush myself. Hopefully,  I am learning how to relax and that is where the problem lies. I came here with a New York attitude and realized, I was rushing to go nowhere. The Island is round, so I can always get home eventually. Personally I feel for the doctors. But, they don't work every day. Some have hours on Tues. & Thursdays. Some are Mondays & Fridays. Some only work till 12.pm, Some only open at 2p.m. Regardless of what is going on, everyone has lunch within 12pm and 2 pm. And the word later can mean 10 minutes or 5 hours. The tropics are like that, But they are always smiling and enjoying life and I guess that is what counts in the end. I am trying to get used to it. Takes time.  And I can breathe that ocean air all the time. My once sclerosed lungs are nearly totally healed and my PFT's are normal. Still, I miss NY and all the noise and rush. I guess because I was born there it is in my blood to run for a bus, even when there will be another bus behind it in a few minutes. We are strange creatures. Today, I relaxed all day and even fell asleep on the way home. Don't feel sorry for me please. I chose to move here because I I thought it would be best for the situation I was in with my intolerance to the cold and having to take in a 95 yr. old mom with Alzheimer's Mom died in October and now it is just Mike and I and we are starting to get used to the slower pace. I think it is good for us if we learn to slow down anyway. Still, I miss my N.Y. social life with friends, the cultural events, museums, street fairs, etc. it is a different world.    Pharmacy called and said Minocin will be here in a week or two.  Meantime, I am taking some of Mike's doxy and adding some left over zith. I think I can hold on for two more weeks. Then I will look into buying Minocin from Canada. Meanwhile, I am going back to my old hobbies of painting and making jewelry and sinishing my book. I also plan to apply for an artisan's license so I can set up a booth at the various fairs. That may be fun and a way of meeting new people.  Meanwhile, I love the 83 degree daily weather. and the ocean breeze. My best to all, Dolores & Mike  From: Cooky Stonkey <cookee1@...> Subject: RE: rheumatic Antibiotic Protocol works and I have the labs to prove it rheumatic Date: Thursday, January 27, 2011, 10:54 PM  , I am totally sorry you took this the wrong way. I was just feeling sorry for Dolores. cooky From: rheumatic [mailto:rheumatic ] On Behalf Of O' Conchubair Sent: Thursday, January 27, 2011 10:35 PM rheumatic Subject: rheumatic Antibiotic Protocol works and I have the labs to prove it Puerto Rico is a territory of the U.S. The people are U.S. citizens. People can go back and forth freely. I have AT & T and I can telephone PR. As I understand it is business as usual that people have to wait for lengthy periods to be seen. There is a program for the poor otherwise people have insurance. Thumbs up for single payer insurance. Who needs to enrich insurance companies and have them with Big Pharma to control medical care. Wow Dolores. I don’t think I like socialized medicine! I get upset and won’t go back to a doctor if I have to wait any longer than 20 minutes. Long ago I waited 4 hours to see a rheumy and I never went back. Here in the US there are a lot of doctors (so far) and you don’t need to put up with crap like that. I guess you put year round sun, warmth and socialized medicine on one hand and efficiency and 4 seasons on the other….Even tho sun and sand sound wonderful I think I will stay here and shovel snow for a couple of months. (giggling). cooky
Guest guest
Dolores , just FYI. When I used to get miocin from part D medicare they charged what they paid for it and what I paid. This is what they take out of the amount you have for part D( which is not something I recall just now). It is somewhere around 3,000. So if minocin costs them $600 and you pay $45 for one month they take $645 from the $3000 which is what you get for all the rest of your drugs that you order. 14 yrs ago that is what it cost for minocin on my hubbys insurance. I don’t know how much it costs in the states now. I too get mine from buylow drugs but have never gotten Triax only Steifel (sp) which is brand name now. I was under the impression Triax sold out to Steifel. Anyway if you ran out of money last year on part D you may ask how much they are going to take out of your part D all together you can cancel as long as you do not receive it.. Also I found when I used different drugs like you are doing I herxed so be aware.
