The upper body tone and stress relief are in the mail. I'm going to pick up the 3 mile walk at target this week. There is also a 1 mile walk which I'll skip. ~Janet~ Home of the Super-Pei Thornapple Hill Chinese Shar-Pei www.4shar-pei.com Lunar Web Design " He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. Guest guest
, I have the set of three. The two mile walk is my favorite but the 1 mile walk is great to get started and for those days when you just have a short time and are rushed. When I began, I did the 1 mile walk for about 2 weeks then moved up to the 2 mile and did that for a few months. Tried the 3 mile walk but found that a bit too strenuous. I liked the longer length but at the time the intensity was a bit too much for me. I decided that if I want a longer work out I will do the 1 mile walk followed immediately by the 2 mile walk and will have a lower intensity 3 mile walk and 45 minutes of exercise. I look forward to beginning exercising again on 2/1/03. That is when the surgeon said I could start up again. I had my open RNY 12/11/02. Rev. Guest guest
Janet - I'm hearing so much about these tapes - could you please describe what each of them are - who's the instructor? You said you were skipping the 1 mile - is that because it really helps you to build up to the next tape, which you are already doing? Thnx for the info and I hope I'm not asking for a repeat of an answer I just couldn't find. A Waiting for surgery in St. Louis Message: 3 Date: Tue, 31 Dec 2002 05:00:08 EST From: jsap31@... It was a doable challange for me so I decided I needed the 3 mile but I ended up getting the 1 mile one also. Each tape basically does the same routine but 1 mile is 15 minutes, 2 miles is 30 and 3 miles is 45 minutes. So now depending on how much time I have, or if I've done any other activity that day, I pick any of the 3. They are basically 'marching' in place with kicks, knee lifts, back kicks and side steps. They pace you from warm up to fat burn to cool down. They have people you can follow who do a lower range of motion and don't work with the hand weights. You need very little space to do these and can modify them to your own energy level or physical capabilities. Unless you have been doing regular walking or aerobics I'd suggest starting with the 1 mile and working up. They do consider this 'aerobic walking'. It does so much more for us than regular walking. Toning ALL muscle groups and good cardio and high calorie burn. The videos are fun and easy to follow. The tapes are by Sansone. I think they are popular on QVC. Don't know how much but Target certainly has the great price of $6.99 each. These tapes are particularly great for me since I am so rural and cannot get out in the winter or don't have 2 hours to spare just to get to a gym and back. Also, I need a low impact type of aerobics since even with a 131 pound loss, my left knee still hurts sometimes and I don't want to aggrevate it further. ~Janet~
