Yes, I am experiencing similar things. I think the mental part is thyroid

and the body calling for thyroid meds since after feeling good mentally the

past 3 months am feeling a little worse this week as well as having my

throat issues coming back which is always a thyroid indication for me.

Cheri

Cortef high? or something else?

I tested low on the saliva test for HC. When starting to take Cortef,

I was started on 5 for the first week and felt little to no results.

The second week I was to rais it to 10, which I did. The first three

days of the second week were GREAT!!! I had energy, could think

clearly, was able to multi-task once again, wanted to spend time with

friends, was happy again AND had an appetite. YOO HOO, I thought.

Again, that was the first three days of the second week. Since then,

I'm pretty close to what I was before except I do tolerate cold better

and have successfully gained a much needed 10 pounds which I've been

able to keep. However, the low-grade depression and desire for

solitude are back along with the mental sluggishness and some

additional symptoms. Can anyone explained what happend? Has anyone

else had a similar experience?

Yes, I've had similar experience with HC in that I've had a few 'good

days' and then lost ground again..I'm totally new to this but my

guess is you need to up the amount of HC you are taking..I'm upping

mine today by 2.5 to a total of 32.5 in the hopes it will finally

stbilise my temps so I can re-introduce Armour. I totally identify

with the loss of appetite and desire for solitude, thankfully my

appetite is back (not what it was which probably isn't a bad thing

lol!) but still find myself wanting to be alone alot except for you

guys!!

Best Wishes,

Sara

Most peple need at least 20MG HC to heal adrenals. There is some

supression of ACTH from the time ypou hit 10MG HC on but that is

necessary to allow the adrneals to heal. You felt the extra until your

body down regulated to cover the amoutn you took. If we could see your

saliva lab we could tell better what is happpening.

Thanks , Sara & Ms. Squarepants:

Regarding the Saliva test, the results are below:

Results Reference Range

7-9am: 0.35 mcg/dL 0.27-2.06

11am-1pm: 0.06 0.03-0.77

3-5pm: 0.21 0.03-0.56

10pm-12am: <0.03 0.03-0.50

Hope everything lines up after transmission. Any help/light you might

be able to shed . . . well, I'd be grateful. Thanks again!

PS - If it adds to the picture, I'm currently taking 20 to keep a

sinus infection at bay. When backing off the 20, it starts gaining

ground against the antibiotics.

While oyu are mostly in range, these ranges are horrid. I would say oyu need

more HC than 20MG for these labs. Are oyu graphing your temps?

I've been taking the basal temps first thing in the morning. They've

been ranging between 96.9-97.1 and on rare occassion 97.2. Is that

what you mean by " graphing " ?

When I say graphing temps I am talking about the method described by

www.drrind.com wher you take temps 3 times a day starting 3 or more

hours after you are up. The day to day averages are recorded on a graph

and these tell if your adrneals are well supported or not,
