I noticed there are different companies offering the service. Which is the

best? Which gives you a free year?

Thanks,

Cheri

even gave me a scholorship one year when I didn't have money for the

membership. It's worth a try, for you and your dear son's life.

Hi Cheri,

I may have spoken out of turn. The NIH paid for my first year. But several years

later I couldn't afford the membership dues and the Medic Alert Organization

paid them for me that year. Medic Alert is the one that is recognised world

wide. You might ask for the basic membership and a card to carry with until you

can get a bracelet, necklace, etc.

I checked out their website but am a bit overwhelmed. I noticed it is about

$40 the first yr, $25 after that. However, the bracelets are really

expensive. If you pay $80 for a bracelet, does that include the yearly

membership too?

Yes, I believe so. The $40.00 for the first year includes the basic bracelet,

IIRC. I wish I could help more. I paid $15 the first year, then $20.00 after a

few years and two years ago it went to $25. It is an invaluable service to have.

They notify your next of kin and have you med records, docs phone numbers to

tell ER personnel. I have way more than will fit on the brecelet. :(

Why don't you give them a call and see what the can offer to you.

I think their wesite is a tad hard to navigate but they are there now, I called

to ask about the UK.
