Guest guest
Dr. Trentham is also my doctor and I went into remission after 18 months of being on Minocin 100mg twice a day. I became better rather quickly, but have since found out that this was because the antibiotic was responsible for an antiinfammatory response. I also found out the Minocin works by weakening the micoplasmas. Those are the Cell-Wall-Deficient bacteria called the L-forms that make us sick in the first place. There are many types of these bugs. They are slow growing and slow dying, so it takes a long time to get better. I am now on the Marshall Protocol. This also involves using Minocin and some other antibiotics that begin in Phase ll plus the use of Benicar. The antibiotics does not kill these nano bacteria, they merely weaken them. What kills the bacteria is the immune system regaining it's strength thru diet, exercise, rest and a healthy mental poitive attitude. I defintely believe in the " Infectious Theory " and in the " Antibiotic Protocol. " I am living proof that it has worked for me. I was bedridden and close to death with pulmonary fibrosis, anemic, fatigued beyond belief and had many other symptoms when I started on the A/P. Today, I am basically pain free, symptom free and healing. But I know that I still harbor some of these bugs in my system.. I learn that from the herxes I still get after taking the Minocin which is now pulsed. The herxes are tolerable and resovle fairly quickly, They last possible a day or less with some minor discomfort. MP is experimental and in it's infancy, but there is hope for a cure in the future. I want to be one of those that achieve a cure. Thanks for sending the article. Much appreciated, Dolores & Mike njteabag@... wrote: Has anyone read the article in the April 1, 2008 issue? I was wondering if it referred to someone in this group. Her name is Koch. It described a woman who had SD being treated experimentally with minocycline. The doctor running the trial was Dr. Trentham at Harvard Medical School. That was in Feb. of 2000. She recovered and is living a fairly normal life today. Previously she had been told she might live three to five years. I thought it was exciting to see this in a mainstream magazine. Guest guest
Can anyone tell my what type of scleroderma the woman in this article had? Was it diffuse systemic scleroderma. Just wondering, as Dr. Trentham is my doctor as well, just saw him in February, and that is my type - looking for some hope. Thanks Gail **************It's Tax Time! Guest guest
Hi Gail, she has systemic SD just as I do.Nice thing is that I am in remission and to look at me you would never know I have SD.Still herxing like mad so I dare not go off antibiotics for more than a few days at a time.I control the hering by taking or not taking antibiotics . Guest guest
Good morning Gail; My way of getting to remission is a long story.Sufice it to say that mino 200 mg a day did not do much for me and only made my leaky gut even worse .I had to find out that I am Celiac and that only happened in year 4 and took 18 months to clear from my body.Had to get the leaky gut controled to a fairly good degree and knock down the vitaminD which took an other 6 months.I did not realize it at the time but I was on a sort of Marshall protocol but without the benefit of Benicar so the herxes were and still are very strong. In year 5 I found a good AP doctor ,reduced my minocin drastically and pulsed it.Later added Zith at low dose once a week or even two. After an other 6 months or so moved on to Clindamycin then addae Bactrim always at low dose and pulsed. and worked up to a higher dosage laterWhen I say the Herx is bad I am not joking and can only get relief if I avoid the antibiotics for 2-3 daysPeople on MP have the Benicar to tone down the herx.Once I got to the 3 antibiotics it only took 18 months to be totally normal.I am seriously thinking of going on MP as it looks like the only way that I might really get rid of this darn SD. We got hit by a real bad snow storm yesterday and it will be picking up again this afternoon so I am off to shovel the driveway for a few hours....and try to find the greenhouse and brush the snow off of it before it collapses.Looks like I will be busy until mid afternoon so if you have any questions I will be back here around 2-3.Wish my hubby was here to help as the snow is wet and very heavy but he is at an orchid show 500 miles away.YUK!!!!! > Lynne - Congratulations on being in remission!!! Guest guest
Hi Eva; Benicarlowers the vit.D and eases the herx. Great stuff, can't wait to try it.Everyone with SD should be on Zestril or something like it to prevent kidney failure even if one has low BP so I will just ask the doc to switch.I will not be taking the full dose that they do on MP because I can't officially use that protocol due to light exposure > Can someone explain why they have to take Benicar since it is for high > blood pressure. > > Thank you, > Eva > > Lynne and Santos <lynneandsantos@ citenet.net > <mailto:lynneandsantos%40citenet.net>> wrote: > Good morning Gail; > My way of getting to remission is a long story.Sufice it to say > that mino 200 mg a day did not do much for me and only made my leaky gut > even worse .I had to find out that I am Celiac and that only happened in > year 4 and took 18 months to clear from my body.Had to get the leaky gut > controled to a fairly good degree and knock down the vitaminD which took > an other 6 months.I did not realize it at the time but I was on a sort > of Marshall protocol but without the benefit of Benicar so the herxes > were and still are very strong. > In year 5 I found a good AP doctor ,reduced my minocin drastically > and pulsed it.Later added Zith at low dose once a week or even two. After > an other 6 months or so moved on to Clindamycin then addae Bactrim > always at low dose and pulsed. and worked up to a higher dosage > laterWhen I say the Herx is bad I am not joking and can only get relief > if I avoid the antibiotics for 2-3 daysPeople on MP have the Benicar to > tone down the herx.Once I got to the 3 antibiotics it only took 18 > months to be totally normal.I am seriously thinking of going on MP as it > looks like the only way that I might really get rid of this darn SD. > We got hit by a real bad snow storm yesterday and it will be > picking up again this afternoon so I am off to shovel the driveway for a > few hours....and try to find the greenhouse and brush the snow off of it > before it collapses.Looks like I will be busy until mid afternoon so if > you have any questions I will be back here around 2-3.Wish my hubby was > here to help as the snow is wet and very heavy but he is at an orchid > show 500 miles away.YUK!!!! ! > > > Lynne - Congratulations on being in remission!!! Guest guest
Hi Eva, You are asking the basic questions re: Marshall Protocol. In order to get the correct answer, you should go to the marshallprotocol.com. Google it up and when you get to the sight, register and sign in. They will answer all your questions on the firsrt page. Print out Phase 1 on the protocol and study it. There is a lot of info in there that may help you unravel these complicated diseases.Dolores Eva Holloway <holloway-eva@...> wrote: Can someone explain why they have to take Benicar since it is for high blood pressure. Guest guest
Dolores, Thank you for leading me to the Marshall Protocol. I did read a lot of this info. Hope that after I have been on the antibiotic for awhile I may check and see how I can get on the MP. I have only been on antibiotics now for seven weeks and doing better. I also have been on the gluten-free diet that long and I am adjusting.....Eva mike rosner <martysfolks2004@...> wrote: Hi Eva, You are asking the basic questions re: Marshall Protocol. Guest guest
hi lynne dr blaney is the most experienced doc doing MP and says that light exposure is only important on MP if the sun bothers you when on benicar. i know a few who do MP and the sun/light does not bother them at all. doesn't raise their D level - only supplmts and food do that. he believes the sun is not strong enough to raise them significantly. you coudl do a phone consul with him to ask re. your situation. monique Hi Eva; Benicarlowers the vit.D and eases the herx. Guest guest
Salut ; I knew that sun exposure was not as important as it was made out to be when MP just started attracting attention a few years ago.I will definately talk this over with my doc and in the meantime I will try to find the info on this in the MP site so that I can bring it with me on my next visit. Guest guest
Hi Eva, That is exactly what I did, I went on the Minocin only for 18 months before I went into remission in May 2007 Continued on it and waited for fall to start the Marshall because I felt that with the days growing shorter it would be easier to follow. I bought black shades for my windows and two pr. of NoIR's. I started the Benicar blockade in Sept and added the minocin back on at the lowest dose. I am doing very will now start the phase ll this week as soon as I get the scripts of clindamycin and Bactrim. I am doing super fine with both the A/P & MP. I'm going for the cure. Good Luck to you, Dolores Eva Holloway <holloway-eva@...> wrote: Dolores, Thank you for leading me to the Marshall Protocol. I did read a lot of this info.
