Guest guest
Martha, I had setbacks also when I first started. I'm not a doctor so I can't advise you weather to stay on your dosage or not...but if it were me.I would VERY gradually increase the dose till you are at 100mgm twice a day MWF and have no increase in symptoms. If you have pain or anything else go back to the previous dose. I would get another test a month from now. Your CPK should remain at 690 or decrease. Hope this helps cooky Subject: rheumatic My CPK has increased Last October my CPK was 7,200. In July it had decreased to 500. Now it is 690. I've been taking Minocin M W F 100 Mil. Should I start taking two 100 Mil pills or is this just typical having a setback. I so wanted to be normal. My MD is troubled since he has no expertice in the antibiotic therapy for pm. He is a General Practitioner and a great guy! He is worried about me
Guest guest
My rheumatologist at the Cleveland Clinic would say that it isn't a big increase - but to watch it - I still can't get mine in the normal range - though is goes up and down 100 pts or so and I get crazy - BUT I have been on doxy for 2 months now and feel better Carole On 9/22/10 3:58 PM, marthabedford wrote: > > Last October my CPK was 7,200. Guest guest
Based on the information you've written, I would guess this is probably just a slight flare as you go through the therapy - a bump in the road if you will. It's often said of this therapy it's three steps forward and two backwards until you finally start leveling out and reach remission, but if you are concerned you could go to 100 mg. every day M-F, or 100 mg. twice a day M-W-F. Make sure you are drinking LOTS of water and having good daily elimination to remove those toxins. Also make sure your practitioner has a copy of the FAQ on www.rheumatic.org , and if he has any questions about the therapy after reading the FAQ, let me know and I will try to get him help from a doctor experienced in the use of this protocol. Guest guest
7200 is way way way beyond high - It is about the creatine leaking out of your muscles - Supposed to be under 220 - depending upon the lab - the best I have done so far is 285 - now it is 385 - So the fact that you got it from 7200 to 500 using AP is awesome carole On 9/22/10 7:21 PM, mannasal@... wrote: > > a question I have: what is CPK? and is 7,200 in the normal range? > thank, sally > > rheumatic My CPK has increased > > Last October my CPK was 7,200. Guest guest
Cooky, in reading your reply to Martha, any suggestion anyone has: i'm in intense pain with my RA (have been for 4 yrs) i'm on AP 100mg twice day MWF, now for 3 months. i feel awful and weaker than normal. lot to do with both hips bad and now feel my knees are bad. i'm on a walker now for a year, and harder and harder to get around. live by myself so it can be challenging. should i go back and do 100mg just once each MWF? i haven't done iv's. how much to do at home cost? maybe i could set up with local homecare to come in and do them? i'm real bad off and getting more concerned about my joints. i don't have a doctor. i have so much hope for AP, yet see that so many of you have so many challenges and ongoing problems. It just isn't fair.....wish i could have a better outlook on all of this....but constant pain is wearing me down. i'm not use to sharing my " downs " with people, and know that this group is for our ups, and our downs. I want to stop crying. sally rheumatic My CPK has increased Last October my CPK was 7,200. In July it had decreased to 500. Now it is 690. I've been taking Minocin M W F 100 Mil. YES YOU MAY EVEN NEED TO GO LOWER. AS I WAS ONCE TOLD THIS TREATMENT SHOULD NOT CAUSE MORE PAIN. THERE IS A 50 MGM DOSE AND EVEN IF THE DOSE IS LOWER IT STILL WORKS i haven't done iv's. how much to do at home cost? I ACTUALL DID MY OWN IV’S AT HOME. I AM A NURSE SO DOC TRUSTED ME AFTER I DID IT ALL IN HIS OFFICE BEFORE HE CAME IN THE ROOM BUT NOW HE SAYS INSURANCE WON’T LET HIM SELL ME THE TUBING, NEEDLES AND SOLUTION. maybe i could set up with local homecare to come in and do them? MEDICARE WON’T PAY FOR HOMECARE. I ASKED BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THAT IT MIGHT BE PAID FOR….NOT! BUT AS AN OUTPATIENT THEY ARE PAYING FOR IT i'm real bad off and getting more concerned about my joints. i don't have a doctor. DO YOU HAVE MEDICARE? i have so much hope for AP, yet see that so many of you have so many challenges and ongoing problems. YES SO MANY OF US DO. BUT THERE ARE SO MANY WHO HAVE GONE ON WITH THEIR LIVES AFTER AP AND JUST DON’T WRITE HERE ANYMORE. I AM HOME MOST OF THE TIME AND I FEEL I WAS HELPED SO MUCH BY ALL THE PEOPLE WHEN I FIRST STARTED THAT I WANT TO TRY TO HELP TOO It just isn't fair.....wish i could have a better outlook on all of this....but constant pain is wearing me down.I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL. MY WORRY IS NOT S MUCH THE PAIN BUT THE WHY HAS THIS COME BACK. I AM WORRIED ABOUT DEFORMATIES RIGHT NOW i'm not use to sharing my " downs " with people, and know that this group is for our ups, and our downs. I want to stop crying.WELL HOPEFULLY THIS TIME NEXT YEAR YOU WILL BE SHARING ONLY YOUR UP DAYS. TRY LOWERING THE DOSAGE AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. HUGS. Guest guest
Thanks for the feedback with regard to the ups and downs of CPK levels. If I increased my antibiotic level from 100 mg to 200 mg M W F, would I take two pills together or one in am and one in pm? I usually take mine two hours after I eat dinner and then don't eat anything until the next morning. > > > Based on the information you've written, I would guess this is probably just > a slight flare as you go through the therapy - a bump in the road if you > will.
