Carolsiegelegal1 wrote: I had my gastic bypass surgery 9 years ago and finally decided that I needed to join a support group. Athough I was not with Kaiser when I had this surgery I am now with Kaiser and felt that this was an opportunity to speak with other post gastric bypass patients. When I had this surgery I was around 600 pounds and I have been 260 pounds for the last 7 years. I would like to lose more weight but have no idea how to do it as I can still only eat 2 - 3 very small meals a day. I need to know if there are any other post gastric bypass patients who are experiencing a similar problem as when I discuss this with the doctors at Kaiser they do not believe what I am telling them. I feel like they do not understand that even if I wanted to, I still cannot overeat because if I eat one bite to much I get sick. Please let me know if anyone else is experiencing similar problems. Guest guest
Hi , Huzzah!!! How wonderful and July 28th isn't that far away. I'm now curious about differences between SSF and Richmond. Do you know any of the specifics? I had surgery in Richmond. Sorry I can't help you with a support group. The only Richmond one I know about starts at 6:00pm which makes it very difficult to get to. Traffic is just a bear around that time. All the best, Kay open RNY 12/1/03 wrote: > Hi all, > I have just received my WLS date. It is July 28th. Until this > time I have been seeing Dr. Baggs. Guest guest
Hi Kay, I went to the Sacramento support group last month and they all talked about the importance of protein drinks. The others I spoke to there liked a protein mix that was a GNC. On the way home I stopped a purchased it. Now I find out that Richmond doesn’t like protein drinks. The support group in Sacramento is geared around the South San Francisco Kaiser. The Nutritionist and the mental health person come from South San Francisco to Sacramento once a month to run the meetings. Last Sat. Dr. Styles even came and spoke to both the pre-op and post-op groups. Also since there are so many persons in the Sacramento area Dr. Styles will be coming to Sacramento to meet with patients there. This will be a new program and they are going to try to get it up and going by Aug. I live in Lodi and getting to Richmond can take a real long time, especially during rush hours. But it does seem like the traffic is bad pretty much all the time. Thanks, -----Original Message----- From: Kay Sent: Monday, May 24, 2004 11:33 AM To: gastric-bypass-support-kaiser-patients Subject: Re: (unknown) Hi , Huzzah!!! Guest guest
Hi, There is a difference in the requirement between Richmond and SSF. I had my surgery in SSF. Their weight lose requirement was the same but the difference is the way that you prepare for surgery. After you go to the orientation meetings you are required to attend preop case management meetings. They really want to know that you are there because you really want to go through a lifestyle change. The meeting are really very good because they show you how your body, and mind spirit need to be in sync. They have a really great team there that get you prepared for surgery. After surgery they would like for you to attend 12 post op case management meeting also. When you go to orientation you do sign a paper saying that you are aware of these requirements. The team is also there for you if you are having problems. They are all for your benefit. I am so thankful that I was assigned to SSF. Guest guest
Hi Ramona, Thanks so much for sharing this information. I'm scheduled for orientation at SSF on 6/15 and have been trying to get some information on the program there. So many people talk about Dr. Baggs and Richmond but I hadn't heard much about SSF. Guess I know who to talk to for the 411 Where are you located? Sweetgemlady656@... wrote: Hi, There is a difference in the requirement between Richmond and SSF. I had my surgery in SSF. Guest guest
Hi Beverly, Thanks for the reply. Hopefully we can meet at the next meeting in Sacramento. Glad to hear you are doing well after your surgery. It has been a long haul getting to this point, but I think it will be will worth it. July 28th seems like a long way off. I am flying my grandkids out from Alabama for two and a half weeks during the wait. Hopefully that will make the time go faster. I know the changes WLS will make in my life will be well worth it. Thanks again, -----Original Message----- From: Beverly Sent: Tuesday, May 25, 2004 7:04 AM To: gastric-bypass-support-kaiser-patients Subject: Re: (unknown) Hi - I was also at the meeting Saturday. I had my surgery done at Richmond on March 29 and doing very good so far. You are correct that this is a SF meeting, but they are great in letting others join in with the group. There have been posts/reminders here about other meetings in the Sacto area held in the evenings. I am not a night person so they will not work for me as I get up too early in the morning to have a night life... I believe you can check the calendar option on the main site for this group on when and were the other meetings are located. I do not go to the meetings in Richmond as they are too far away. The meetings are usually held late in the afternoon so you get caught up in the going home commute traffic - horrible.... I also end up having to take a whole day off work when I have to go to Richmond, so that doesn't always work for me. Hope this helps and if you go to the meeting next month, I hope to meet you. The time is going to fly by for your surgery date next month. Wishing you well. Beverly wrote: Hi all, I have just received my WLS date. It is July 28th. Until this time I have been seeing Dr. Baggs.
