Guest guest
I believe you can patch the hole by not opening attachments unless you are sure what it is, and by disabling any automatic script execution. The former applies to all email clients. Microsoft recently stopped working on new software in order to fix security holes in its existing software. One could also run an antivirus software on incoming email to further reduce a chance of infection. Computer viruses are rarely beneficial, although, like biological versions, they are scavangers and opportunistic You can't infect a well maintained computer. New security holes are discovered all the time, and exploits are generally distributed among hackers and to script kiddies far and wide well before firewall vendors update their products, let alone before Microsoft bothers to issue a patch. -
