Guest guest
Interesting topic... I have come out of depression just recently (in the last month) after treating it with bio-identical testosterone cream. I've never had SAD before so I didn't even think it could be that, but I'm post-menopausal and low in testosterone among other hormones. So I started devouring my hormone books for some clue as to why I was feeling so sad and came across the link between low T and depression. It worked for me and now I don't mind the gloomier days. I think a light box or full-spectrum lights would do the same thing though as the added light would lower melatonin. I read somewhere that during the winter, melatonin increases and depresses testosterone and that's what causes SAD. In Spring melatonin drops off, testosterone returns to normal and SAD goes away. I've now noticed a definite connection of how depressed I have become since it started to get cold and since we changed the clocks and it's dark by 4:30. I have always suffered from seasonal affective disorder, but this year it is worse than ever. It's taking all my will just to keep going. > I went to a very dark place with depression last week and it's always worse as soon as it gets dark. Anyone else with this problem? What can be done about this? I heard vitamin D can help and I guess those light boxes. > > > >
